South Africa lose their last 5 wickets for just 10 runs.

SA 189 all out.

Green with his first 5-for in test cricket.

Aussies 2/136 at Lunch

Warner 86*
Smith 21*

Labuschagne run out or should that be needlessly sacrificed for 14. As the old saying goes don't run on an overthrow especially when your partner has run 3m past the wicket on the first run. Warner wanted the 2nd run (thinking he was running to the danger end?) and Labuschagne once committed to the 2nd run was gonski with too much ground to make up.

Starc out of the Sydney test due to that finger injury and will need the next six weeks to try and recover in time for the Indian tour.

Great innings by Warner, very tough. He's been a sensational batsman and unfortunately the whipping boy for the sandpaper.

Going to be tough to bowl SA out again if Starc and Green can't bowl. Cummins, Boland, Lyon and maybe Head will have their work cut out for them.

That Nortje is great to watch, saw him bowl a whole over at 150-155 every ball. Lethal stuff.

Aussies 7/479 at Lunch Day 3. A lead of 290 runs.

So, 4/93 for the session. Conditions today better for bowling which we won't mind for later on in the day.

Warner 200 (returned to bat but didn't add to his score).
Head 51
Cummins 4
Lyon 25

Carey 62*
Green 14* (has now also returned to bat).

Cam Green has a broken finger and is highly unlikely to bowl in the remainder of the second Test, Australian coach Andrew McDonald has revealed to SEN Test Cricket.

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2022/12/27/green-injury-blow-to-devastate-aussie-bowling-stocks-but-starc-to-play-a/

McDonald has suggested Lance Morris will receive a Test debut in Sydney, should Mitch Starc be unavailable. Morris – a 24-year-old quick out of West Australia – was added to the Test squad in early December as cover for Pat Cummins at the time.

Aussies declare at 8/575.

A lead of 386 runs.

Carey with a century as well (111).
Green 51*
Starc 10* (hit on the helmet with the last ball of the innings).

The question now is who is fit to bowl and how long we'll get to bowl due to the overcast conditions and reduced light.

SA 4/120 at Lunch. Still trail by 266 runs.

Starc and Boland with a wicket each. Travis Head then ran out Zondo.

Not pleased with Usman this summer.

Ordinary with the bat, a few dropped catches and largely indifferent fielding otherwise.

Thought Hazelwood and Nesser would be in for Starc and Green if they can't bowl at 100% but am keen to see Morris, I hear he's quite fast.
