Just hope they don't rue not playing a spinner

Basically we are playing 5 pacemen if you include the luckiest cricketer in Aust Cameron Green

On X is said Nesser and Richardson were marking their run ups, so look like they are playing

Lucky if this test is another that lasts 3 days lol.

Aussies struggled to 152 on this greenish pitch. But thankfully England are now 8/88 after Boland just ripped through their middle order. Starc and Neser toppled the top order.

England 110 all out .... Neser 4/45, Boland 3/30, Starc 2/23, Green 1/0, Richardson 0/8.

Aussies openers have to get through one over before stumps.

Scotty Boland survived all 6 deliveries as the nightwatchman. Dropped in the slips and then hit a four with the last ball .

Aussies 0/4 at stumps.

Aussies lead by 46 runs.

First time since 1951 that 20 wickets have fallen on the first day in Australia. First time in Melbourne since 1901.

Record cricket crowd at the 'G of 94,199.

Amazing crowd

As for the “dropped catch”, I didn’t think it carried?

The replay looked like it carried. Tough chance low and to the left.

Being here live have to say it was insipid batting effort by Australia

Can't blame the pitch for a number of the dismissals. Green, Khawaja were both the result of poor shot selection. No excuses

What has become apparent at Test level is the in so many cases the complete lack of footwork

This will be a two day test.

Agree WP. Aside from Head and Smith, a woeful effort by the Aussie bats. All out for 132.

Mind you Labuschagne was stiff being given out to what looked like a bump ball. Seen these being given not out in the past if there's any sign the ball touched a blade of glass.

Anyway, England now favourite to win at 2/77 at Tea. Only need 98 more runs. Would need another ridiculous last session collapse from the Poms for the Aussies to win this. Not sure why Boland was held back from bowling on his home deck and this pitch until just before Tea?!

Fair enough, WP.

Today is an indictment on most of the Aussie batsmen. If they had dug in and fought through the first session, then they would probably still be batting given the pitch has flatten out.

Absolutely, Cameron Green should be embarrassed by his dismissal today. It was selfish, pathetic and ever so costly. Boland put more value on his wicket than the 4 million dollar man

And I going whack the capt here as well. That he took singles off the first ball of overs when he was batting with numbers 10 and 11 was disgraceful. It wasn't leadership it was selfish and stupid. His filed placements this innings are mind boggling. Just gifting easy singles, no pressure at all

The selectors must share the blame as well they pick these blokes when they clearly either don't deserve to be there or simply aren't good enough

Just glad I didn't pay to watch this crap today
