Richmond will start its bid for a modern-age dynasty with just a single major surgery after tying down two premiership heroes.

Richmond football boss Neil Balme said only Jack Graham (shoulder) would need surgery of any consequence, with the third-year midfielder set to be in full training after Christmas.

A handful of other players will need minor surgeries but the Tigers should have a full list of players ready for the pre-season.

Alex Rance has made incredible recovery from his ACL rupture and will be ready to resume in Round 1 after a full 12 month recovery.

Hardwick flags round one return for 'inspirational' Higgins

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has flagged a possible round one return next year for “inspirational” small forward Jack Higgins.

Speaking at the club’s best and fairest on Tuesday night, Hardwick paid tribute to Higgins, who was hospitalised with a brain bleed in July and subsequently underwent surgery.

Hardwick said Higgins’ presence at training ahead of the grand final last week had boosted the Tigers’ spirits.

“To a young man named Jack Higgins, who had a significant injury like you would not believe, for him to make the time and effort to come down to see our playing group on Thursday, merely a week after his operation, was simply inspirational,” Hardwick said.

“I can’t wait to get you back mate, and look forward to seeing you round one next year.”

I saw a visual on the channel 7 program on Sunday morning which said Jack Higgins would be returning to VFL level around round 15 next year.
The anywhere, anytime Tigers.
