Our tackling was near non existent in the second half.
We need to remember we want to peak at seasons end not now. It’s important to ease our way and build as the season progresses honing the game plan. 
We don’t even look fit yet which is fine as long as we win.

We really need the percentage though. I think we turned it on against Gold Coast and clawed our way back up but the team needs to remember percentage is crucial for a top 4 berth

A Carlton fan of all people who called into SEN after the game mentioned this. The host was saying Carlton's second half comeback was a positive for Blues fans and the caller said "same old same old ... the game was a repeat of both Rich vs Carl matches last year". We crush their hopes but tormenting them with narrow wins against them .

No doubt we're pacing ourselves so there isn't a repeat of 2018 when we fell away in form when it mattered. The game was pretty bruise free and our intensity was off after 1/4 time. We did what we had to do to win.

In other news, obviously their main ruck has gone down for 16 weeks. Newman and McGovern looked like they got minor booboos too.

Business as usual. Carltank throwing their bodies on the line for the R1 grand final just to come up with another 'honourable loss' to the mighty Tiges who were basically treating it like a praccy match by playing two under done key players in Nank and Graham

RICHMOND

A five-goal blitz to open the game was more than enough for the Tigers to make it 13 consecutive victories, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Damien Hardwick’s side. The premiers were 50 points up at one stage before collapsing and being seriously threatened by a Carlton side with very few forwards worth naming. When Nick Vlastuin was forced out of the game with a feared concussion, things didn’t look great in defence, and if it wasn’t for some brilliant bursts of play across the second and third quarters, this could’ve been a boilover. Yes, they still won by four goals, but this should’ve been bigger.

IN THE VOTES

The still-underrated Dion Prestia finished with a team-high 25 disposals while the ever-present Dustin Martin had 24, and both men kicked a goal. But it was the crafty forwards who were the difference on Thursday night, turning minimal chances into maximum scoreboard impact. Jack Riewoldt, Jason Castagna, Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton all finished with three goals.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

As mentioned, the defence struggled once Nick Vlastuin went down, and they had no answers for Jack Martin in his four-goal third quarter. Tom Lynch was very quiet with just the one behind to his name, clearly losing his battle with Jacob Weitering.
