Richmond announces list changes

Richmond Football Club have informed players Jacob Townsend, Callum Moore and Connor Menadue they will not be offered contracts for the 2020 season.

Townsend began his career at GWS where he played 28 games before being recruited to Richmond in 2015. In 2017 he was a part of the Richmond Premiership side and also won the J.J Liston Trophy presented to the Best and Fairest in the VFL competition.

The forward played 20 games during his four seasons at the Club.

Richmond List Manager, Blair Hartley, thanked Townsend for his professionalism both on and off the field.

“Jacob is an outstanding young man and a well-respected player within our group, he leaves the club as a premiership player and life member. We wish him all the best with his future endeavours.”

Moore joined the Club as a rookie at the end of 2015 and played 8 senior games for the Tigers.

“Unfortunately Cal missed a great deal of the season with an ankle injury but came back to play a great finals series in the VFL. The growth he has shown both on and off the field during his time at the club is a testament to all the hard work he has put in. We wish him well and have no doubt he will forge a successful career in the future”

Menadue, 23, played 39 games during his five seasons at Richmond. A former Western Jet, Menadue was recruited to the Tigers with pick 33 in the 2014 AFL National Draft.

“During his time at the club Connor has become a popular member of the playing group,” Hartley said.

“His work ethic on the training track and his professionalism is second to none. We thank Connor for his time at the Club and wish him all the best for his future career.”

How the hell does Miller survive? More chance of me playing seniors than him

Miller has shown very brief glimpses but I'm inclined to agree.... then again if a flanker like Menadud can be afforded 5 years then a KPP like Miller probably deserves at least three...at this stage he reminds me of the likes of Gourdis & Putt - plenty of tools & attributes but not much ability or footy nouse....apparently rated highly at the club internally...but so where all the other three at one point...:shh

Towner did his job thankyou very much move on.Moore we got guys ahead of him and hasn't stepped up.Menadue time for a change has talent ,but lacks believe when goes up into the afl.No point keeping them on the list rather fresh young blood we seen the impact that has made to us over years from even first year under 18 kids and state league recruits these guys weren't going to play rather fresh faces.Grigg and Butler had no impact on this season so no lost there only real one is Ellis in reality and gun to come back Rance.

As for Miller second year project KP player and had those injuries or illness this year.Silly to delist him now needs time.

With necessary changes as per AFL rules and the strength of our list, not totally surprised but a little sad to Menadue go. Miller needs a very big preseason and can consider himself lucky.

He survives because this was only his 2nd season, he's had multiple injuries and he is a big KPP

Was always going to get another year

Would like him to start playing as a KPP not a flanker which has been his position mostly. Must show something next year IMO but the coaches see something obviously.

Miller always staying. He's 195cm ffs and has been on the list two years.

Blokes like Menadue get 5 years and people still don't see why he has to go even though he has never, ever held his place in our 22.

Hopefully they all get careers elsewhere. I think Moore and Menadue are likely to. Would like Towner to stay on somehow if he doesn't get a gig elsewhere.

More to go still > Aarts, Garthwaite and Markov should be trimmed too.

On Ch7  news tonight they suggested Towner might be headed back to GWS

Hope he does

Came from outside the elite junior development and really has only had 1 proper preseason at the top level. Just turned 20 so we can afford to give him time.

Recorded good speed and agility scores at Combine. Has the attributes. Just needs the polish.

Would think he will be at the club for a few years yet.

Moore is 3 years older than Miller so keeping Miller for another year or two seems the way to go especially given his speed and agility for a 195cm player.

Reckon Moore & Menadue will get picked maybe as rookies but will be on lists somewhere.
Hawks were keen on Moore during the year.
GC crazy not to look a Menadue, would suit WB as well.
