A sign of our depth and future
« on: November 01, 2019, 03:17:27 PM »
The RFC website has posted a team of non-2019 premiership Tigers:

B: Eggmolesse-Smith, Rance, Garthwaite

HB: Stack, Balta, McIntosh

C: Naish, Ross, Turner

HF: Collier-Dawkins, Miller, English

F: Aarts, Markov, Chol

R: Coleman-Jones, Graham, Higgins

And it’s interesting to note that 13 players in the side will be 22 years of age or under in season 2020, which is a great sign for the future at Tigerland.

Hope to see RCD play a few games in the ones this year.

Still think his ceilings is a Fyfe/Cripps type player.

LMFAO Rance as a depth player.
Essendon/Dodoro then probably asked during the trade period if we would swap Rance for pick 73.

No pressure there, dougey ;).

He's still a long long way away from that sort of class but if next year RCD can reproduce the form he showed in the VFL GF on a consistent basis then no doubt he will get a few games in the ones. This year he had too many quiet games where he was too inside and not got enough of the ball. Hopefully the VFL GF was a breakout game and with another preseason under his belt he can have a breakout season in 2020.

Given the way RCD played in the VFL GF the club is on the right track with him. They picked him to play centre in the seconds well before he was capable experience and maturity wise. And they kept playing him even when his return was not at the level that would justify his continued selection in that position.

So far great steady development work by the club and player. Now another preseasonnto complete then more work cementing what he has been learning. Then give him some game time in the seniors.

Remember when we did not have this luxury of taking our time with the kids?

Outside of Rance who is 30+ there really is only Balta who looks likely when it comes to ACTUAL kpp's and theres every chance they will be putting a whole heap of senior games into him next yr.

Suppose im saying i think the quality and depth with ACTUAL KPP'S is not there imo or doesnt appear to be there atm.

Agree with Claw although I’m bullish about CCJ as a key forward/ruck
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I mean, a lot of the guys on our list are playing at their ceiling - that's why we're winning flags. Probably a few have even exceeded even the biggest optimists hopes, so why not throw it out there he can get to that level?

He's absolutely the prototype. And while we all kind of expect that once players enter the system they're at or close to full maturity and ready for senior football, This couldn't be futher from the truth with RCD. He's kind of the opposite end of the spectrum compared to a Graham/Ross. The kid had a significant growth spurt in his last year of school. He's very raw from a physicality and maturity perspective. Personally, I'm probably as bullish about him as a prospect that we've had since Rioli. Maybe even Vlastuin.

Hope your right. Only issue i have with that is its my understanding the club has him pegged as a ruckman first and fwd second.

Not sure where to put this but it relates to the state and depth of our list.

From Barrett's Sliding Doors column:

IF ... the full-forward and ruckman broke down in the second last home and away round of any season at any other club ...

THEN ... it'd be a crisis. Just a small speed bump for the big-game, premiership-proven Tigers after round 17 of 2020.
