Player like Hugo and Jack Ross have little hope of success in our team. They aren’t established and know that they are the first ones dropped.

So, play your natural game at risk then become the first dropped when an “established “ player is ready to come back

Play your role and likely not do that to the coaches satisfaction because it doesn’t suit your natural strengths

Still get dropped.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Thought he looked ok at times. Not a bad game and has improved his tackling technique this game an got away with a blatant trip in the goalsquare too.

I think he’s improving nicely.

Improved performance

But his strength is his long kicking. When he tries the dink short ones he is very poor

Going to agree with others again. Thought he was servicable and i reckon Sonsie Clarke Cumberland and Hugo gave us needed pace.

Terrible game. Needlessly turned the ball over. Kicked into the man at the mark. Cost multiple goals.

I don’t understand his role in the team?

I don’t understand his role in the team?

Sweeping and long kicker off HB

Like Houli used to do and what Short used to do before they decided move into the middle

Dimma made an interesting c9mment about Balta 2nd guessing himself rather than playing his role.

Hugo is the same, 2nd guesses and then as a result turns it over. Aka makes shocking decisions

I think he is also one of those players that when those around are playing well he looks a good player and limitations are to a degree hidden. But when those around him are playing crap then his weaknesses stand out like a beacon

WP I hate saying this about footballers as nearly always their courage is there for all to see , however I did see Hugo last night appear to shirk a contest which is not good in a young player

I don't remember this, not saying it didn't happen.

Hugo is lightly built, I'm not judging his worth by putting his body in the line, that's not his role. Sure has to go when he needs to but if he's gut running, getting big metres gained, creating goals with his skills and rebounding that's what we want to see from a Hugo type.
