Have you ever racially abused an aboriginal player at the footy?
« on: February 01, 2020, 12:25:11 PM »
Quite simply its time to fess up if youve let em have it.

As for me Im guilty of doing it in the long past. Its pretty shameful behaviour and im not proud if it mind you back then it was considered part of the game.

Yes, I have too!  But most of it was done quietly under my breath!  I never did it face to face as a player (cos I never played against an Aboriginal kid) but I let a few have it over the fence as a spectator (ooh that Robbie Muir!) in the VFL days.
Then something brilliant happened - we recruited Maurice Rioli & I never felt like doing it again.  It changed something in me & I'm glad it did.
Live & learn, but you have to live it in order to learn it ...

I don't think I have. I booed Goodes towards the end because I thought he was a sliding sniper and a sook, but now that I better understand his circumstances I realise the 'sook' argument and the booing that went with it was racially motivated. It's a shame that white people actually silenced a black man with a voice.

Elsewise I have never been one to heckle blokes relentlessly. The mob where I sit used to give it to Kozschitske a lot but after a while a few of us started telling the hecklers to just stfu and leave him alone. Bloke gave his all and didn't have the career he probably could have if his head didn't get repeatedly smashed.

I'll never boo a bloke who has a crack out there. Just the divers and show ponies with big egos like that Geelong mob - Selwood, Ablett and Dangerlookatmepleaseinterviewmefield.

No I haven't.

I have been racially abused by indigenous people whilst playing myself though.

I was the only white fella in our team & 1 particular trip to Barunga I was the only whitey on the ground & quite possibly in the town !

Different players but same situation for me

And no , it doesn't really make us racists, but in rubbish politically correct 2020 Australia, we are absolutely racist

yes, under my breath and when i was a lot younger. I believe i too was racially abused to by being called an aboriginal and a wog in my high school days. It didnt offend in any way so i believe IMO some of these guys should really just grow of pair and give it back as we all did.

i never booed goodes mainly because i dont believe i went to many of his games since he started becoming a wanker. If he was playing now, i would boo him for sure because i think he is an abolsute tool.

I did consistently abuse in some way the likes of harvey, essendon football team and especially milne.

No - impossible to be racist against whites. :shh

Is anyone gonna give it to Betts in R1?

For being black - no. :shh

For being past it - yes :shh :shh

For Carlton "rebuilding" with him - yes :shh :shh :shh

For 2017 - yes :shh :shh :shh :shh

By ironically chanting "EEEEDDDIEEEE" every time he misses - yes :shh :shh :shh :shh :shh

Dio could you imagine if the essendon football club players were majority aboriginal. There is no way that would have been tolerated. I would dare say you would have got evicted for some of the things that were yelled at them. I have no doubt you would have been labelled it a racist, and nothing to do with why they are actually getting booed for.

Imagine the manufctured outrage if Tambling was on our list these days and copping the ironic "Bronx" cheers from Richmond supporters like he did during Wallace's last year... :shh
