Richo shares his thoughts on THAT moment involving a frustrated young Tiger on the bench last weekend.

Except he took the call.  Footage about 15 seconds later shows him on the phone.  Selective editing/cutaway creates an issue.

Here's the full clip with Maurice answering the phone as HKTigerB said.

Yep. I am sure getting made him more frustrated with himself that the person on the end of that phone. Possibly needed a moment to collect himself.
I personally think he’s being wasted protecting space and chasing defenders.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I’ve personally had to come to the conclusion that he won’t be as good as his father  :'(

And he won’t be as good as his cousin Cyril either  :'(

Has to work on his foot skills and decision making though. I’m guessing that will come in time or that is the hope anyway.

I’m not going to write him off just yet. I think there is enough to work with what he’s got and hopefully he will realise what he needs to work on to make sure he is a consistent player for us in the future.

I still maintain the opinion that if there is a Rioli on offer in the draft you take that opportunity because most times it will be a good decision.

I think comparing Maurice to his father is really unfair.  Snr was 25 when he arrived in Victoria, he already had plenty of senior experience in WA & had learned his strengths & weaknesses by the time he came over.  Jnr though is still just a kid.  2 years ago he was a skinny kid too.  He has built an impressive body in just 2 years & is still growing into it now.  He has some sublime skills, but its harder than ever to show them in today's game.  He also has the weight of expectation bearing down on him.
To give up on Jnr now is to let a diamond slip through our fingers ...     :cheers

Maybe there is a better suited position for him?

Daniel was not going very well until they changed his position

Just watching Maurice play midfield in the twos this morning.  Yep, he looks much better in the middle than battling in starvation corner as a defensive small forward ...

Got a bit of the ball in the vfl which is good. He is one of the biggest turnover
Machines I’ve ever seen though. No doubt the coaches would be telling him
To just make the easy play and play to your strengths but he just seems to either fumble, drop the ball, fall over, kick along the ground or just completely stuff it up SO often it’s just bizarre. He needs another pre season to just reset and work on the basics

I think getting sustained midfield minutes in the 2s will help him with this though. A lot easier to get your touch back and work on your disposal when you’re getting it 20 times a game as opposed to when you’re only touching it 5 times a game.

Exactly.
I don’t understand posts like that. Seems obvious that has a part to play. As much a coaching issue as a playing one

Maurice Rioli Jnr has entered the AFL concussion protocols following an incident at training today.

Rioli’s symptoms are mild, and his progress will be monitored across the next 12 days 💛

Mini post-game said Maurice did his hammy on the other leg today. So, it's not the same one that he did earlier in the year during the Anzac Eve match.

1 more year in the seniors. If the result is the same then rookie list. If that doesnt work then cull his sorry arse.

he is either fat or just lazy atm. Something is missing with this guy.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.
