One of our worst ever.  Conca and Batchelor were both reaches.  Jackson very lucky to still have a job after the Conca decision.  Heppell, Caddy, Prestia and Lynch all went immediately after and were all higher ranked juniors and all turned out to be significantly better players

That draft was such a let down, because the Conca pick got leaked early by the RFC website!

Made for great forum discussions though

Peter Wright

Sam Edmund says: “He is well and truly up for grabs.

“Peter Wright is up for grabs as is Will Brodie at the Gold Coast Suns but there’s no takers there as of yet. I think they fit into that basket on uncertainly over list sizes given their status in the competition.

“Once that picture becomes clearer, I think we’ll hear some suitors”

Need to target a ruck with Soldo out for 12 months and Nank injuries issue and lack of winning taps and CCJ unknown situation even if he stays we're still short.

Nathan Broad (Richmond)
A 27-year-old, 192cm dual premiership defender hungry to play on, but can’t get a gig in Richmond’s senior team at the moment. He remains unsigned beyond this season — and, subsequently, has drawn interest from other clubs. Broad has been linked to the Suns, but it was reported by SEN’s Sam Edmund last week that the Suns had “lukewarm interest” in the backman. With Pearce Hanley retiring and Jarrod Harbrow nearer to the end of his career, Broad’s experience would be handy in defence — although he’s a very different player to Harbrow and Hanley. The Cats are in need of a key defender or two, so they could be an option for Broad.

Veteran North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein could explore his options in the upcoming trade period, according to Channel 9’s Damian Barrett.

Paddy McCartin “looks unbelievable” and is “beautifully positioned” for another crack at an AFL club according to Melbourne great Garry Lyon, with Sydney the reported frontrunner. However SEN’s Sam Edmund reports Geelong, Essendon and Collingwood have also reached out to the ex-Saints forward.

Todd Goldstein is expected to stay at North Melbourne according to Sam Edmund.

I think when they say “beautifully positioned for another crack” they are being literal.
As in crack like Humpty Dumpty
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

We should take Goldy for 1 year. Tell him he's a smoky for a flag. Big club. Cheap money as backup.

North Melbourne veteran Shaun Higgins says he'll walk from the Kangaroos if the club wants to take its list in a different direction.

GWS young gun Jackson Hately has become the first of the club’s top 2018 draftees to declare their hand, with the onballer confirming he wants to be traded in the off-season to Adelaide.
