AFL world reacts to Mabior Chol video from Jayden Short and Nick Vlaustin

Herald-Sun
8 August 2020

Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd couldn’t help but feel for Chol after seeing the footage and said the club would be ashamed of the vision.

“I think Hugh Riminton, what he’s done, he has stopped it across the competition,” Lloyd said on 3AW.

“He’s put the spotlight on it.

“Richmond is a great football club but they’d be highly embarrassed because that was repulsive and an invasion on Mabior Chol.

“I felt very uncomfortable watching it – I didn’t see at the time, but watching it since – for Mabior Chol.

“He would have been well within his rights to knock Nick Vlastuin out, there and then.

“Imagine trying that on Tony Lockett – he would have thrown you into a brick wall.”

Carlton AFLW star Tayla Harris has lashed out at social media users defending Richmond’s ‘bum slapping’ which has been referred to as alleged sexual assault by a journalist.

Reporter Hugh Riminton raised the issue of Nick Vlaustin and Jayden Short touching teammate Maboir Chol’s genitals, with little support online – until now.

The female marking sensation slammed the actions in a Tweet on Friday afternoon.

“The justification of this is extraordinary, the comments are unbelievable,” she wrote.

“These men are role models, kids playing junior footy see this on teli (sic) and think it’s okay.

“IT IS NOT OKAY. I don’t care about the ‘boys club’ BS, this is severely in appropriate, grow up 🤦🏼‍♀️”

Other users agreed, citing the behaviour as ‘persistent’, while one replied to Harris and said the footage shouldn’t have been recorded.

“This is why camera’s (sic) in the sheds should be banned,” they wrote.

“It happened in the in the change room so what’s the big deal. If no camera’s were on in there u (sic) wouldn’t even know it happened.”

Harris replid to the user: “This is a serious question - do you think is okay/fun/cool to grab each other’s peens (sic) and/or put your finger up their butt? I, personally, don’t do that with my friends or teammates.”

She continued: “You’re right it’s hard to explain because it is absolutely ridiculous. For the record I asked my dad (played in the 80’s) he (rightly or wrongly) said he’d flog any bloke who tried to grab him like that.

“You should probably have a talk to yourself about what you like.”

Jack Riewoldt, Dan Butler in separate groping incidents, vision shows

Herald-Sun
8 August 2020

The AFL has been plunged further into crisis after vision emerged of two more star players in alleged groping incidents with teammates.

The scandal widened on Friday night with new footage showing two more alleged incidents featuring Tigers captain Jack Riewoldt and St Kilda star Dan Butler.

The Herald Sun first reported that vision of Butler appearing to grope teammate Jake Gresham’s genitals and buttocks emerged on Friday night before, spreading across social media sites.

The vision allegedly shows Butler groping Gresham in the dressing rooms after the Saints’ win over the Gold Coast Suns on Thursday night.

According to the report in The Herald Sun, Butler has issued an apology.

“It wasn’t a premeditated action, and I have spoken to Jade and apologised.”

Gresham said he was not offended by the action.

“There is no context in which this behaviour is appropriate and will ensure it is not repeated,” he said.

AFL fans on social media site Reddit on Friday also uncovered vision of Riewoldt appearing to grope teammate Short.

According to fans, the vision allegedly shows Riewoldt giving Short a tap on the front of his genitals before moving his hand towards the backside of his teammate also in the dressing room after the Tigers win over Brisbane last week.

Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph also said the league was “filthy” with the Tigers for their actions.

“My understanding was he really was mortified to be dragged into it and didn’t feel like he wanted to be involved. But clearly there is an example that needs to be set,” Ralph said on Fox Footy.

“For all the people out there that say ‘it’s just blokes being blokes’, the AFL tonight is filthy on it. They say at the very least a player should have a safe space to play a game of football, which he loves doing, go into the rooms, sing the song and not get touched on the genitalia. I think at the very least we can all agree to that.”

because I think what Vlastuin and Short did is disgraceful I think both should have been suspended for 3 to 5 weeks by our own club. Completely unacceptable from both. Im more disappointed in Vlastuin who is someone who could be a future Richmond captain.

What if the groping is consensual
It’s quite obvious it wasn’t

Was a tongue in cheek comment.
stuff me the media just love this don't they. I know grabbing someone's johnson is a step up but are we going to shame someone every time they give a butt slap ??
Obviously there is some inside joke and if Chol was really uncomfortable I'm sure he'd feel confident in telling his teammates so. If it's about setting examples then why bring even more attention to it. The people who are concerned should bring it up privately with the club to minimise any further exposure to our innocent kiddies, no? I think it's more just pushing for headlines with another controversial 'assault' story, rather than being genuinely concerned for the individuals involved, because they know it's not true assault.
I really do hate the way the world's going.

Please. Give it a spell. Your clearly taking the pee.

It doesn’t look good without context.

No one is talking about when Vlaustin was groped after the song was sung and went into the middle of the circle, I think he copped it from everyone and it’s very obviously an in joke with the boys.
If all in-house football club pranks were exposed how many do you think “the media“ would approve of? Fortunately most in house pranks are kept in house and aren’t subject to media scrutiny.

Or maybe they should just be robots that are programmed like Hymie from Get Smart to show no emotion at all or show no effects of enjoyment in the public arena.

This is all the perfect example of judgement by media and beginnings of a much greater social constructs that will prevent us from eventually thinking for ourselves because we will be told what to think.

The club that keeps giving.

Interestingly, the HUN on Twitter has posted a picture of Dan Butler doing the same thing last night

Further to that again on Twitter someone posted a picture of Port Adelaide leaving field and one player doing the same thing, didn'tsay or show the age of the picture

I hope the media highlight these as well. As I reckon it shows that this isn't just something hat happens at Richmond

Having said that, it was average behaviour at best and more than that the vision shows that Marbs was clearly uncomfortable with what was going on. But the Club have dealt with it, time to move on

We have a game to win tomorrow

article today about dan butler. He too has issued an apoloigy. Standby for culture issues at Punt Road.  :lol :lol

Lighten the stuff up. It was a joke.

Not everyone in the world is a plant eating, bisexual, planet saving, anti-vaccer that believes everyone who isn’t is a bad person. Some people still get that life should be fun.

This unfortunately is the world we live in

Critical race theory and Intersectionality is huge a huge issue in all spheres in the U.S.

The left wing socialists will milk this for all its worth as Chol being ethnic, a refugee and black already intersects on about five phases and if he were say he identifies as “gender variant” then he would actually clean up if he decided to sue the AFL for harassment in the workplace.

This type of thing will get worse and worse in the media. People will take maximum advantage of the new norm and prosecute ie. “religious” cake shop owners who won’t make a cake for a gay wedding because it’s goes against their religion. Or the pastor will lose his government accreditation because he quotes from the scriptures exactly what’s it’s been saying for thousands of years.

Maybe the club should not allow the media inside the rooms anymore so the boys can just have fun like brothers do.
Spray paint the lenses, or don’t sing the song in the main room and go in another room where theres no cameras so they can enjoy the win without the media eyes judging every move.

Like it or not it’s just going to get worse and eventually won’t be able to think because the thought police will stop us.  :rollin

 :lol

Sounds like you’re a little politically jaded there mate.

I’m what you would probably call a lefty but I don’t think this has anything to do with race and I don’t agree with race being brought into it.

Not everyone on the left is a socialist and not everything is some sort of leftist conspiracy.

Maybe go easy on the Andrew Bolt and Fox News for a bit?...
I don’t watch either of those media outlets nor am I a conspiracy theorist. Funny enough, I do watch a lot of the ABC though.    :rollin

I’m just stating what’s happening in the US at the moment especially in areas normally not associated with this type of political agenda or ideology.

In this case, the boys are mucking around much like my brothers and I would do pretty much every day growing up and when we get together now we still do this to each other or it’s some of the things you’d do with best mates at school or work etc. which all shows how close the players at Richmond really are.
In relation to what’s happening overseas and especially in the USA at the minute, I was illustrating what will eventually be the norm in Australia when we are more a tune to critical race theory and intersectionality which, I have no doubt, will be terms we hear more and more in Australia in the years to come.
With the absence of absolute truth and the advent of socially constructed “norms” that is subjective truth then we are all told what is acceptable & what is not acceptable whether it is actually true or not.
This is actually happening now and this situation is just the beginning.

Fair enough. I agree with most of that.

I have seen one or two absolute pelicans try to make this a race thing on social media but I think they are in the minority.

I think most people  on both sides of politics understand that this isn’t much more than a silly lockerroom in joke between mates.

Stupid? Yes. Racist? Definitely not.

Those far-left scumbag cancel culture warriors Sleeping Giants have piped up about it on twitter.....guess they'll be calling for a boycott of the club's sponsors now.... :shh

Yeah I saw that Joel Wilkinson dude mentioned “racial abuse” on Twitter which is absolutely pathetic.

He is trying to create a race issue where there clearly is none.

As I mentioned earlier, I probably fit in the category of “lefty” (albeit a moderate one) but this kind of thing makes my blood boil.

Cancel culture is horse poo.  Extreme left and extreme right are two sides of the same coin in my view.

For what it’s worth, what Vlas did clearly went beyond the normal “love taps” you see in locker rooms after games.

He went overboard and the fact that Mabs was trying to make it stop really didn’t look good on national television.

It was always going to be a talking point and I reckon Benny and Peggy will be dirty with the boys for being so stupid in front of the cameras.

In saying that, it’s not a major issue by any stretch and people should and will move on pretty quickly I reckon.

Agree with most of that. Sticking your fingers up a teammates arse is not normal. Would of given 5 weeks suspension. Its disgraceful conduct it really is.
