2020 trade & free agency period dates (Foxsports)
« on: August 11, 2020, 12:32:43 AM »
The Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph reports the league is expected to open free agency on Friday October 23, just days after the planned October 17 Grand Final.

The trade period would then open on Monday October 26, running until the night of Wednesday November 4.

“Even though we’re rolling into October, for such a popular period for so many people, they’re not going to condense this free agency and trade period,” he told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.

“November 3 is the Melbourne Cup, so there might be a few dusty journalists trying to cover the end of the trade period.

“It’s not ideal but for the AFL, which usually schedules a week of fixture leaks to try and suck the oxygen out of Derby day and the Spring Carnival, they’ve got a legitimate week of news here.”

If the Grand Final has to be pushed back, then the trade period would be pushed back by the same amount.
