Changes for the Cats game?
« on: September 02, 2020, 09:44:47 PM »
Looks like we got through unscathed (aside from Cotch's dented schnoz).

Fire away with your changes, if any?

I'd leave Grimes out again.  Just can't risk him in any sense.
Out Dow, Higgo
In.  Stack, Lambert

"Lambert will play next week and we think Grimes will be available as well which is another positive," Hardwick said after the win over the Dockers.

We aren’t beating the Cats without a fit Grimes or Astbury
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Think we can but would prefer him to be there of course.

My guessimate:

HF:   Dahlhaus          Rohan                               Atkins
HB:   Short/Houli    Grimes (if he plays)/Broad    Markov

F:     Close                 Hawkins                            Miers
B:    Vlastuin               Balta                               Baker

They could bring in Ratugolea to add another tall playing high forward to try and stretch us if both Grimes and Astbury don't play. Broad would get him if Grimes is available.

I just reckon we need a Grimes/Astbury to be floating in front of Porkins  to intercept mark or spoil.
The one on ones on paper look ok but the Cats move the ball well into F50, we’ll need an elite intercept to block those leads which allows Balta to play more of a blocking role on Tummy.

Keep defensive structure and apply our trademark high pressure on the ball carrier we go well to win any game we play including a fit and firing Cats.

We don’t play the Richmond way and we look like what we served up vs Fremantle and we are as useless as any bottom team in competition.

We mustn’t forget what has got us our success.
The club that keeps giving.

I think you’re missing my point.
Pressure on the ball carrier is a given, they still move the ball inside 50 better than anyone, apart from a fully fit Pie’s  midfield and the Eagles.
Therefore, that defensive beast is required to chip in front or even be third man in to defend those aggressive kicks

Jack said he thinks Lambert will be back this week while Grimes is 50/50.

Balta will get the job on Hawkins.
