Like to see another mid come in for one of Castagna or Aarts  (you don't drop Rioli at this time of year)   :shh

From Ivan Maric on coaches corner:

Mabior Chol

“We are looking to see who is going to come in for Soldo. I know ‘Cholly’ had a really, really strong game in the scratch match against Geelong so we will find out later in the week.

“He is really hard to match up on, especially when he comes in fresh as a second ruck option, it’s hard for opposition rucks to play on him. The other part of his game which has been really consistent and great this year, is his forward play and he did that really well (on the weekend).

“He kicked five goals but competed really strongly in the air. Jack Riewoldt and Tom Lynch have been spending a lot of time with him coaching how to compete against three, and that was probably the most pleasing part of his game against Geelong in the scratch match. It would be hard for ‘Dimma’ not to pick him.”

Chol as a deep forward

“It could be a little look at the future of the Club, and I think ‘Marbs’ is so capable of playing as a permanent forward that can go into the ruck.

“I think also whether we play another key or go another small I am not sure which way 'Dimma' is going to go with that. I think we have got plenty of options which is great.”

That is fine, good actually. Bolton deserves a break, as he looked a little down last week.

Sheds is back!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Tigers will welcome two-time premiership player Shane Edwards back into the fold for Saturday’s clash with the Crows.

Edwards came through the quarantine hub and linked up with the squad this week having spent the past few months in Melbourne for the birth of his daughter Mya.

“He’ll play. Shane is a high-quality player in our best 22,” Adam Kingsley said.

“He’s prepared really well. He spent a couple of weeks in quarantine training with Gary Ablett and (Dan) Hannebery and a few others.

“He’s fit, he’s strong, so he’ll play and we’ll see how he goes.”

With Edwards coming in, it gives Richmond a chance to rest Shai Bolton who is nursing a corked calf. He is expected to go out of the side along with Ivan Soldo (ACL) and Tom Lynch (hamstring) with Mabior Chol and perhaps Josh Caddy the replacements.

Defender David Astbury could also be set to return to senior footy.

Chol is in along with Sheds.

Astbury has put his hand up to play as well according to Dimma.

Premiership pair set to return for Tigers

RICHMOND is set to welcome back premiership pair Shane Edwards and David Astbury for a pre-finals tune-up in Saturday's clash with Adelaide.

Edwards has completed his quarantine period in Queensland and rejoined the Tigers group in recent days and will come in for his first game since round five, while Astbury featured in last week's scrimmage game after battling a persistent knee injury since June.

But with the Tigers needing to beat the Crows to ensure a top-four finish, the duo is expected to return for the trip to Adelaide Oval.

"Shane Edwards trained strongly today and Dave Astbury trained strongly, and Dion Prestia joined in some training as well," coach Damien Hardwick said on Thursday.

"The first two have put their hands up to play, but it was a really strong session from all those guys and we've got some players who are coming back which is really important for us."

The Tigers, meanwhile, are still weighing up how they cover the loss of Ivan Soldo, who went down with a ruptured ACL and medial ligament last week.

Mabior Chol will return to the senior side, while Hardwick raised possible first-gamer Ben Miller, as well as premiership Tigers Nathan Broad and Josh Caddy, as potential replacements.

So, we are thinking:-
Outs
Shai, Ivvy and Lynch
Ins
Cholly, Shedda and Astbury?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

SEN just said Richmond has confirmed Astbury will play this week. So along with Sheds and Chol that's at least 3 ins.

Tell you what, providing we win well and have no injuries - there’s going to be some unlucky young men missing the first final.

Astbury will have to replace a defender so Markov looks the likely out. Reckon Caddy comes in for Lynch.

Would be a shame for Markov to make way but can understand why. Should Miller get a game it would be a remarkable advancement as he didn't look like it at all last season in the VFL.

Astbury for Markov is a hell of a drop in pace... :shh
