Port has copied Richmond. Chaos footy, getting the ball forward anyhow, locking it in there and scoring.
Richmond changed the game when they won the flag in 2017.
Rendell said he spoke to Richmond people and told them that Richmond saved the game. The game was going down a very negative path up until then.
It's not that Richmond don't defend either. They always have one back - use to be Rance, Grimes or Vlastuin. But they attack & pressure the ball carrier.
Attacking sides fill the top 3 positions on the ladder (Port, Brisbane & Richmond). Teams that play negatively don't reach those top 3 positions. Geelong look good when they attack but they don't do it often enough.
Not about Richmond but Rendell without prompting then unloaded on Collingwood (and indirectly on Buckley). Said they are "100% negative". Rendell said he spent 7 years there and it frustrated the hell out of him. Only in 2018 did they attack but now they've gone back to being negative. All Pie forwards & Grundy have gone backwards. De Goey has only played two good games this year.
