Who gets traded/delisted and who stays?

Re-sign or let go? Your club's out-of-contract players

Marc McGowan
afl.com.au
4 October 2020

Richmond

Out of contract: Jake Aarts, Nathan Broad, Riley Collier-Dawkins, Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Luke English, Ryan Garthwaite, Bachar Houli, Oleg Markov, Ben Miller, Toby Nankervis, Marlion Pickett, Fraser Turner

Broad, Houli and Nankervis have generated the most media coverage, with all being either linked to other clubs or considered a trade target. Nankervis told AFL.com.au he wanted to stay at Tigerland, and his internal value soared when Ivan Soldo suffered an ACL rupture. Callum Coleman-Jones' suspension could be another factor, too. Top-20 pick Collier-Dawkins is yet to debut in his first two seasons but is set to score a two-year extension, while Aarts is discussing a deal of the same length. Markov and Eggmolesse-Smith have emerged this year as players of interest to other clubs. Grand Final hero Pickett and the others must wait for the list sizes decision.

Nank priority.

I like Broad a lot.

Markov showed enough.

The rest can go

What is going on with RCD? mixed messages, you would think he would be given a go, so he must not be up for it or his attitude is wrong, being our first pick from ? 2 years ago?
I thought he had shown enough in the VFL, but obviously not.

So do we delist him?

Considering Corey Ellis got 27 games for us (6 games in 2017 and 4 games in 2018) and has proven to be a bust even with our successful development program only managed 4 games with the gold coast.

Is it that hard to get a game? Not for Jack Ross that was drafted the same year.

It’s not like he’s not had midfield opportunities. Our match selection haven’t been shy to give a player a game if warranted.

Possibly there’s something we’re missing.

All I can say is when he finally gets his opportunity in the senior team let’s hope he proves to everyone how wrong the match committee has been.

He did look great in the vfl grand final but Currently it looks at though we got the selection very wrong.
The club that keeps giving.

Except for Aarts who's 25 and been in the VFL for years, nobody else has debuted this year...club's probably been hesitant to chuck untried kids in because they haven't played any serious, competitive footy all year...if we were in the midst of a rebuild and not at the pointy end of the ladder. were every match is crucial , even more so in a shortened season, it might be different... :shh

Trade Period state of play: Your club's targets, who's on the table

Callum Twomey
afl.com.au
26 October 2020

Richmond

Indicative draft picks: 19, 32, 55, 73, 91

Who they're after: It has been mainly about retention for the Tigers this season as they slowly but surely re-sign their key players, including Toby Nankervis and Jack Graham recently. They were linked as an interested party to Adelaide free agent Brad Crouch but that did not get far down the line.

Who's on the table: Nathan Broad is out of contract and has been floated to rivals however he may still remain at Tigerland. Jack Higgins has a year to run on his contract but has attracted interest after dropping out of the senior side. Gold Coast is keen on Oleg Markov and could give him more senior opportunities.

Who's in limbo: Bachar Houli is waiting on a contract offer from Richmond but wants to stay at the club next year despite Essendon making him a target. Marlion Pickett wants to stay but is also without a new deal, as are Jake Aarts, Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Ryan Garthwaite and youngster Ben Miller.

Who's already gone: No one

Dream trade period: Not expecting Richmond to be overly active in the exchange period with such a settled list. Some depth may seek opportunities elsewhere, but the Tigers have players who will be ready to fill the void if Broad and Higgins depart.

We can afford to trade Pickett.
It’s been nice but he really isn’t as good as I thought he was going to be.
I think the B & F votes showed as much.

Any of the youngsters would be mad to leave now. Markov, CCJ, RCD, Aarts, Ross, etc.

When your given the opportunity make it count and the club will back you in as we’ve seen time and again.

On this Monday’s episode of the Hard Ball Gets AFL Show, Matthew Richardson told The West Australian’s Chris Robinson that he’s confident the Tigers are better placed than any previous group to run it back in 2021, with the same side that dominated on the weekend.

I think they can,” Richardson said, “I just read online that Marlion Pickett has a two-year contract on the table.

“He was one that potentially was one that maybe the Dockers or the Eagles were looking at and has family connections in WA, but I think he’ll re-sign.

“I also just have a feeling that Bachar Houli will go around again, there’s no one else from that team that won’t be there next year.

“They’ll all be there and if they’re all there then they have a chance to play together again. Now that was the case after 2017 and it didn’t happen.

“I think everyone else is contracted, I think Nathan Broad is out of contract but will stay. So they’re not going to lose anyone else, they might around the fringes but not the 22. It’s a chance.”

We dont need to do much. Sign Bolton and Balta to long term deals and then pick up 3 kids in the draft. Thats it really. No need to do more. We are huge chance again in 2021 with our list.

Might be called a damn fool but I reckon that the penny dropped during the finals series - the last half vs Power and GF were very good.
He’s worked his game out this finals series and I’d hate to lose that benefit next year
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Doubt Miller will be delisted and if he is will likely be redrafted as a rookie -  rated highly by the coaching staff ....not to mention Tom Lynch.... :shh

Can anyone confirm where Rance's money will be used? Is it tying up other players or are we in a position to get a bigger trade or FA in future? Seems odd we lost Rance and aren't being spoken about replacing that contract for something similar?
Go Tigers!
