Hmm they have gone with last yrs team. Assuming there will be three or four changes, well im hoping there is, as that should mean we continue to evolve and younger players are stepping up.
For me the player most in the gun is Houli at 32 yrs of age. we have outside running half backs one being the current B/F in Short. Baker, Stack, Pickett can all play there.
Historically We have also played the four tall defenders Grimes, Balta, Broad, Astbury and (Rance before retirement)at every opportunity it aint about to change imo.
Throw in Vlastuin who is an automatic lock down back it leaves just the one or two running spots. Short has just won a b/f and would be a lock. the back 6 is sorted imo.
Reckon we have tried to play two ruckmen whenever possible. With Soldo injured i think it is time to put games into CCJ He has to be ready by now and he has to be a better option than Chol.
This is a big if but IF RCD is right to go, then imo the logical thing to do is play him fwd rotating with the other bull in Martin. They were putting work into him in this role last yr and at 190cm plus? he actually provides a third tall option up fwd.
Really hope this kid can take the steps needed to make it. A tall mid /fwd who is explosive around stoppages sounds good to me.
Dow i chose to play on a wing where all he has to do is run hard both ways and get on the end of some ball. Wing/running back imo good places to play the kids at the start of their careers being primarily outlet roles.
Fwd line is Balanced with three players to play a big role as part of midfield rotations in Bolton, Edwards, RC-D
Along with pressure fwd Castagna and the two key fwds.
The bench is an extended one making up the 30 players most likely to get games. It is loaded with midfielders and a second ruckman who could play fwd as well.
B/ Grimes - Astbury - Vlastuin.
HB/ Short - Balta - Broad
C/ Dow# - Martin* - Pickett/McIntosh#
R/ Nankervis - Cotchin# - Prestia#
HF/ Bolton# - Riewoldt - Edwards#
F/ Castagna - Lynch - Collier-Dawkins*
Int from/ Lambert# - Ross# - CC-J - Graham# - Baker - Caddy# - Ralphsmith# - Stack -Naish - Rioli
If they are ready to go and can take the next step then i hope we prioritse the likes of Dow, RC-D, Ross and CC-J.
