if any of you seriously believe that koories have nothing musically, as someone outrageously claimed in this thread then i suggest u take a listen to archie roach.

he is possible the great australian singer. he is amazing.  have a listen to 'charocoal lane,' 'jamu dreaming,' waiting for butterboy' and the marvellous 'sensual being.'

i defy u not to be moved.

Sorry Charocoal lane ?

Captain

I don't think anyone is really claiming that - in any event it's all in the ear of the beholder   ;) anyway and imho all I'll say about Archie Roach is that he's better than Kutcha Edwards.

How do you rate Jimmy Little - that'll give me a clue  :thumbsup

Yothu Yindi ( ;D) is damn good.

I actually thought the acoustics in the stadium were ordinary. Couldn't hear much of the pre-game entertainment at all.

Indigineous people better thank God they have Christine Anu because musically they have nothing.
Who was the large bloke singing with Rene.Absolute shocker.

Musically they have nothing? By what standards? Pop music, which has been around for about 50 years?
Indigenous people have had their own music for 40 odd thousand years, why would you judge them on a style of music that has only been on the planet about 1/800th of that time?

Perhaps ox just loves his MMM and judges everything by that lame and mediocre crap that they play.

This is a disgraceful post.  You should be ashamed of this racist rubbish.

What grounds do you have to claim he was an alcoholic?
Was it because he was black?

Shame shame shame

Get a grip pinko..

No racism in this at all.

Ure the racist for linking alcoholism to being black.

I said nothing of the sort.

But just to amuse you,
U dont get that fat drinking water and u cant sing that badly unless youve been hitting it.

I call it as i see it captain lefty.

Have u ever tried sensationalist journalism ?

I hear 60 minutes has an opening and i think you'd be perfect for the job.

BTW,Why did u call him an alcoholic?

The whole thing was embarassing.

Face it and get on with it.

LMAO@ Taking Dreamtime beliefs corporate.

Mine

Pop music, which has been around for about 50 years?

No.
By the standards set by Classical composers,Latinos,Maoris,Philipinos,Zulus,African Americans.......

Quote

Because they are supposedly career musicians that release albums to the public, the commercial listening public.

Maybe If u had of intro'd the event last night you could have said the same thing as i quoted above - then everyone would understand the realities of it all.

Why are u generalising here?

Nobody held a gun to any of the performers heads and forced them into contemporary music.
They backed themselves.
Im not disputing the fact they have their own music.

The problem with their movement is they have no great spokesmen/women.

The problem is they're stupid.

The way they are going about things is only prolonging failure.

WTF Do they want?

Money,Land,Both,recognition,a free ride,?

I'll give it to them if i can but i really dont know what it is.

Do they ?
