Club Corner - May 8
« on: May 08, 2006, 11:15:07 PM »
Paul Armstrong

* No fresh injuries.

* Sugar will train this week - tomorrow and Thurs. If he gets through on Friday he'll play.

* Chaffey may play part of a game at Coburg this week (not sure what level).

* Gas may be available this week.

* Knobel - played two good games at Coburg. Just can't squeeze him in the side with Staff and Simmo. We don't play all 3 talls in night games and all games so far have been night games. Saturday arvo is a day game at the Dome.

* They would have been happy with Polo if he got 10 possies and a goal. Obviously exceeded that by a mile.

* Delighted with JON as well.

* Roof will be open unless there's a forecast of rain. Find out Friday.

Polo on the radio now.

Dean Polo

Spoke well and is a pretty level headed kid  :thumbsup

* AFL not easy. A massive step up from the VFL. The more he got into the game the more confident he became. Crowd didn't bother him once the game started.

* Coaches told him to do his own thing and that is why he had be selected.

* As we know he found out he was playing at the Playerlink function last Tuesday night. Said hi Moi lol.

* He and the coaching staff knew where he was at last year and didn't want to throw him into the deep end. We had plenty of young draftees last year so he had to wait for his turn.

* Doesn't put pressure on himself. Just goes out and tries to win the ball. Said he hasn't proved anything yet after just one game.

* 2nd game at the 'G (played U18s there once). First night game ever.

* Played for Wy Yung Tigers, lived in Bairnsdale. First ever AFL player from there. Cameron White who plays for Victoria also comes from Wy Yung.

Tivs on now.

Tivs

* Reckons his year has been reasonable.

* Round 1 was a kick in the pants. We've just worked harder since.

* Goalkicking not good enough. Eventually it will cost us a game. Guys spending more time at training working on their routines.

* Last year was hoping to use the ball well instead of knowing what to do. Kept getting himself confused and his confidence took at beating.

* Played every game from R19 1999 till late 2005.

* Andrew Kruse mentioned the F word - finals. Tivs said we'll wait until middle of the year before seeing where we are at.

Adam Potter - Coburg assistant coach

* Best on Sunday - Patto (CHF, ruck) was good with his marking in difficult and wet conditions. Jacko and Knobel also.

* Away to Willy this week then Casey. Both seniors and ressies playing Sunday at Burbank Oval, Willy.

* Richmond injuries mean guys like on Limbach, McGuane and White are getting games at senior VFL level and doing well. Graham performing well in the ressies. Polo and Hughes promoted to Richmond.

Dean Polo, the Tiger debutant who had everyone talking on Saturday night, joined Andrew Kuuse on Tigers Club Corner for a chat about his first game. Polo had 29 possessions and kicked three goals in a match-winning performance.

Have to mention what a very interesting hour or so club corner was last night.

Andrew Kuuse is a terrific presenter and interviewer.

I enjoyed listening to his interviews with Polo.Tivs and Emmett Dunne.

Well worth sacrificing my beauty sleep for! :thumbsup
