I agree with guy who pointed out how stupid these comparisons can be....
But I’ll bite:-
My criteria is influence in finals and GF’s.
Selwood won flags like Jono Brown when others in the team were at their best and he was starting his career.
Cotchin’s leadership in finals and each GF has been incredible.
He’s ability to win big moments at key times in finals with one percent plays is probably as good as anyone in the history of the game.
The tackle on Stanley or Blicavs early in the 3rd qtr of the 2019 Prelim, the flick handball at the same point in last years GF that saw the ball end up in Jacks arms a minute later, the attack of the footy that took Sheil out of the 2017 Prelim, I could go on but are moments where he defined the momentum through a selfless act.
Selwood is a great player who has sullied his reputation by playing for free kicks.
AA’s are about as significant as Academy Awards..... for the same reasons.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
