“Perth sources tell me it’s not actually the money or the tenure that’s going to keep him at Fremantle or make him leave.
“He loves the club, he loves his teammates, it’s purely whether he wants to live in Perth from a lifestyle and family perspective, or whether he wants to come home to Victoria and live in Melbourne.”
“Fremantle have offered Cerra a four-year deal, and I understand it’s worth somewhere between $700,000 and $750,000 a year,” Morris reported on AFL Tonight.
If Cerra did decide to leave, he would need to be traded, which would earn the Dockers “certainly a top 10 pick ... maybe even top five or six given he’s a ready-made player with four years in the system,” Morris said.
“But if he hasn’t signed on by Round 13 or 14, if I was Freo, I’d be slightly worried.
“It’s more of a lifestyle or footy decision, but his name will be at the top of everyone’s whiteboard - don’t believe for a second it’s just Carlton or just Essendon that’s chasing Cerra, a whole line of Victorian clubs will line up to get him if he’s still unsigned in eight weeks’ time.”
