Last year when we played the Bulldogs (who were in the Eight at the time), we were coming off a loss and sitting 9th at 4-3-1.

Missing were Vlastuin, Prestia, Edwards, Astbury, Houli, Rioli & Nankervis.

In the side were Ross, Higgins, Soldo, Markov, Chol, Eggy & Stack.

We won by 7 goals.

Can only hope for a similar miracle this week  :P :pray.

THE AFL has today announced that fans will now be able to purchase up to 10 tickets per transaction for matches in Victoria to encourage larger families and friendship groups to safely attend and sit together at Victorian venues.

The Bulldogs will make at least four changes with Tim English (concussion), Josh Dunkley (shoulder), Lin Jong (hamstring) and Laitham Vandermeer (back) all out of the side that extended their winning streak to six in a row.

Patrick Lipinski will come in with Mitch Wallis, Rhylee West, Mitch Hannan and Josh Schache and No.1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan all in consideration.

Burning Questions: Round 7

Ben Waterworth, David Zita and Matt Balmer
Foxsports
29 April 2021

How will Richmond go without Dusty?

Dustin Martin has been a valuable asset for the Tigers playing 250 of a possible 258 games. But with the superstar ruled out through concussion, Damien Hardwick will need to rejig his plans for the massive clash with the Western Bulldogs. There isn’t a huge sample size to outline how the Tigers go without Martin, but the last time the midfielder didn’t play, Richmond was defeated by 32 points against Hawthorn in 2020. With Trent Cotchin under pressure following a slow start to the year, there is going to need to be a clear lift from the entire side to fill the boots of Martin.

Will the Bulldogs deliver at the MCG?

Luke Beveridge’s team has already had a few tests in 2021 given they have faced likely top-eight teams Brisbane and West Coast at home. But time will tell as to how they can go against a big Victorian team at the MCG with the Tigers having plenty to play for. Expectations are high on the Bulldogs after the perfect start to season 2021 and that will only grow if they can get over the Tigers at the MCG, on a ground the two teams could well meet at in September. The Dogs have won just two of their past five games at the MCG. It isn’t all smooth sailing for the Dogs given the injuries to Josh Dunkley and Tim English, but with a midfield brigade stronger than any in the competition, it won’t shatter their chances of victory.

Personally I'm sick of us continually picking players who watch the ball onto their foot when kicking
I work in Africa and they were taking the pee out of me for saving Africa.......

The Bulldogs are mauling the competition. This is how they can be stopped

The Tigers will need to be alert in the middle of the ground and very tight in the midfield, stopping the opportunity for players to run forward at speed.

“They [Bulldogs] are clearly the best clearance team in the competition, +9 clearances per week. It’s off the back of roles.

“In tight and tough is the Libba (Tom Liberatore) zone, it has been Dunkley at times but Libba is the one that gets absolute toenails of the ruckman and then it is out for the next layer, the ripple effect.

“That’s clearance, that’s absolute clearance, +9 in the competition so they’re starting with the ball nine times a week more than you, great starting point.”

A key statistic to success in 2021 has been the post clearance contested possession numbers with the AFL’s two undefeated teams being ranked in the top two across the competition.

“Once we see that ripple affect or layers and handball game come into it, now look at the next possession,” King continued.

“Outside of clearance you’ve got the post clearance contested possession ball game, so one that ball leaves clearance what happens then.

“They are not only the best post clearance team in terms of contested possession winning that next contest, but they are No.1 by a significant margin.

“They are +100, the next is Melbourne on +75. If you put the two together, they are double the gap between the Dogs and the Demons in terms of pre and post clearance. They are that tough, they are impossible to stop.”

Looks like Naish is the sub. He's listed as the 5th man on the bench on the AFL website.

Confirmed.

There’s no late changes for #AFLTigersDogs but the medical subs are Patrick Naish and Lachlan McNeil.
