Been saying it for ages weDont need any of them.

Want a good sized medium genuine fwd in the fwd half give Ralphsmith a game BLOODY QUICK AS WELL. could also play him wing or h/b if we want.. Play ccj ffs it has been smacking them in the face and still no second ruck/fwd.
As others have said bring in stack theres more flexability ,we dont even need to do that when everyone is fit. Bolton Lambert Graham Edwards all say hello just rotate em thru there it aint rocket science.

To my way of thinking Aarts and Castagna have always needed to be looked upon as us needing longer term upgrades. This unfortunately now applies to Rioli as well he just has not come on in fact if any thing hes gone backwards.

Not playing rioli castagna Aarts means more mids can play and we obviously get more rotations.

So no biggie, just totally change our entire game plan that has won us 3 flags, in Round 9.

Yeah, nah.

Game plan means Jack Shyte if the smalls aren't applying pressure and sticking tackles.... :shh

LMFAO some really do get suckered into the club spiel.
Any way here goes Aarts has not played in a flag and im quite sure we would have won the others if Castagna and Rioli were there or not.

Boy oh boy the silliness just never stops around here.

Here we have Rioli spending lots of time further up the ground and we still dont get many tackles we dont get many disposals yet alone effective ones kicking goals nope always been on the lean side with that one. Always slowing the play down.

What we do get is a bloke who guards space lol,  who chases tail always second to the ball. He runs hard up and down the ground always a bit late to a contest or player to have any real influence and when he does get there his tackles are useless. Yet because of this his Pressure stats are trumped up. Most  stats not worth unless they are used correctly.
Been like this for a long time now and still supporters defend him to the hilt.

It is total baloney that the club only play him to guard space or run hard. It is pie in the sky stuff that we cannot find players who do both the attacking and defensive aspects of the game. i sometimes think some supporters just blindly lap up what ever spiel the club puts forth. All i can say is open your eyes and open your minds to both the good and the bad.

Hmm two small fwds needed.  id play when fit two of Edwards Bolton Lambert Graham Stack  and most certainly give Ralphsmith or Cumberland  a run thru there. The last two cannot do any worse than the three protected species.

We do play two ruckmen when we are fit Soldo and Nankervis say hello. so why dont we do it now.  instead of a pure ruckman Soldo injured, CC-J A fWD /RUCK.

Give me the following any yr every day of the week over the likes of Aarts Rioli Castagna.

CC-J - Riewoldt - Edwards
Bolton - Lynch - Ralphsmith. With rotations Lambert, Graham , Stack, Dusty.

all the smalls and  mediums would be expected to do what the other three do defensively. What they do is not some sort of footy panacea its something that is expected of all our players.  Edwards and Bolton do it now but they also impact games same goes for Lambert and Graham when forward they defend but also impact .

There has always been room for improvement looking at the small fwds we have and how we go about it is one area.

Huge room for improvement from small forwards, but we directly conceded 8 goals from back 50 turnovers on Friday night. Changing small forwards will do nothing to stop that.

It might help us kick a decent score. It wasnt just the ball coming out that was poor on friday. But hey just focus on that if you like.

People have complained all year even when we win about the forward half. The talls, in particular Lynch has copped it, at least he can say you do better trying to beat two or three every time it comes in on top of your head. You dont think hes not peeed off when he battles two or three opponents and brings it to ground only for the smalls not to be seen or when they are seen totally stuff it up for a lack of class. FMD I HOPE LIKE HELL WE ARE LOOKING FOR UPGRADES.

The lack of effort and hunger with Rioli is very evident and Castagna is Castagna a total lack of class was always going to mean a limited role and out come most of the time.

Its all good when the system is going alright and the better players make it easy for em but we see all the time not just this year what happens when these things dont occur.

We really should be looking at the weak links even if they perform a role and look to find better even if its a small upgrade.

Again nowhere to be seen at the fall of the ball and again the opposition slice us open from our D50 under no pressure.

Good call, his fall from grace has been stark
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Big concern for me not even doing the basics tackling and locking the ball up let alone kicking goals.

Thought Castagna got more involved this week getting up the ground a bit to create an option and was able to take 8 marks. His defensive pressure was pretty good especially the second half as the whole team lifted.

Rioli effectively played 1 quarter of footy so that last quarter was good. If he played like that for four quarters we’d have a very good player unfortunately it’s not good enough.

The kids Aarts is not much chop but he consistently impacts more than the other two this season. Shows he has better work ethic and gives more despite his limitations. Can’t wait to see MRJ instead have no clue when he will be ready.

Was still heart in mouth stuff whenever he got it but thought Cantkickit actually looked  the best of small forwards in the guts..used his pace well...still like to see him tried in a shut down role if Hardwick ever changes his mind on playing a tagger.. :shh

Smashed again at ground level in our forward line because our small forwards are in no man's land rather than being front and square to our tall forwards. Schoolboy stuff! :banghead

This year has been like playing with two men down. Did George & Aarts play tonight?  ::)

Exactly MT.

Why not try Parker and Caddy instead of George and Aarts.

I can replace George and Aarts with two players from the local state competitions.
