Cerra looks good  :lol

Dime a dozen for me.
I like him, he has some poise and he’s not afraid to kick it and gain metres and has footy smarts.

I think he would be a nice addition

I don’t like the players that are scared panic merchants. ie Ellis

If we gave up both firsts with sweeteners to add him & Green - who'll be only 23 y.o. & 21 y.o. respectively - would it be that much different than hitting the draft....would we find better players than them or even as good as them? Could possibly still get a first for CCJ too- then another if we bundle up our two second rounders for a first from  say, Dogs, who'll need points to match the inevitable bid for Darcy.... :shh

I see your point, though I just can't see it in Cerra. Looks slow and a tad soft. if we look back on the Prestia thread,  I'm sure I questioned the club when we gave up pick 6 so I could be wrong again.

One thing we don't know is what is going to happen with CCJ and Bolton. For all we know we may have 4 first rounders :shh

I’m not sure how you can judge him soft.
The slow is a perception but in fact he is more composed than most - doesn’t panic.

I’d rather someone who considers his disposals rather than a serial boot-slapper.
The club that keeps giving.

Ah you mean boot slappers like McIntosh, Castagna Short and Houli.

Can't see us moving on 6 players.
Geez we could do 10 without blinking. 6 nd picks at the moment could trade out a few for more could bring in a F/A or two it would be easy to do.

RETIRE
Houli - we all know its way past time.

Astbury  31-  if he goes and i think he should then a mature recruit will be needed along with a junior.

Edwards 33 - just get the feel that he is gone past it.

Caddy 30 - give him the option to retire but if need be delist. There is no longer a role for him and playing him would just take games away from a younger bloke.

Castagna 25 - skills are deplorable just no place for his type.

McIntosh 28 - see Castagna

Aarts 27 - slow and a very good vfl player but he falls short at AFL. Not enough polish.

Des - 23 way too soft.

Garthwaite 23 - an inbetweener and not good enough for AFL after five seasons

Dan Rioli 24- would anyone really be surprised if we traded him out.

Naish 23 - just too outside and soft for me.

Chol  25- really does lack physicality toughness. would get a pick in return for him id say.

Riewoldt 33 Cotchin 31 could just hang up the boots their time is numbered. The poor games are far out numbering the good.

That was not a hard exercise to do and thats leaving the kids alone.

How many spots do we anticipate we need to free up for draft picks/trades?

Of the one's out of contract you could:

Trade Castagna, McIntosh or CCJ (could keep also)
Keep Astbury, CCJ, Dow, Martyn, Nyuon, Ralphsmith & Rioli
Delist Cumberland, Garthwaite, Houli, Naish

I am surprised Caddy is contracted.

Was all for Cumberland being delisted but he's really started to show something in the last few VFL games...I'd hang on to him for now...would delist Martyn first... Caddy will likely be traded...hearing Norf are keen.... :shh

Cheers taz  :cheers.

He's an unrestricted free agent so from a trade perspective it doesn't matter. Another club could grab him and we'd get nothing.

The AFL has confirmed it's list and draft rules for 2022.

--------------------------------

* CLUBS are set to retain the same list sizes for 2022.

* Any player in their third season as a Category A or B rookie will be eligible to spend another season as a rookie in 2022 as a 'replacement' year.

* The rule that allowed clubs to move primary-listed players to the rookie list between the first and second list lodgment periods to open up senior spots will not be permitted this off-season. They will, however, be able to shift players on the senior list to the rookie list in the time between the national and rookie drafts if the player is contracted for 2022.

* Clubs have been told they will have to again select a minimum of three players at the NAB AFL Draft after last year only needing to take one because of list reductions. The three live picks can include promoted rookies (before or after the national draft), national draft picks and pre-season draft selections.

* The free agency period will run from October 1-8, with the trade period starting on Monday, October 4 to Wednesday, October 13.

* The draft will again be staged over two nights, with the League planning for the first round to be conducted on Wednesday, November 24 and the rest of the national draft on Thursday, November 25.

* The rookie and pre-season drafts are being slated for Friday, November 26.

Contracted but need to trade:
Caddy
Ross (unless he's allowed to put 5kg on and be an inside mid who handballs more than kicks)
Aarts

Coming out of contract:
Delist:
DES
Miller
Naish
Houli
Garth
Astbury/keep as depth only

Trade:
KMac/keep not fussed
Chol

Re-sign:
Stack
Mansell
Colina
KMac/or trade
Martyn
Biggie
Ralph
Rioli
CCJ
George/trade
Cumberland
Dow

Lot of those kids have only been on the list 2 years with 2020 being a bit of a development write-off.
