We're not fit!
« on: July 11, 2021, 07:05:47 PM »
Every qtr we struggled in the last 10 mins and of course we didn't give a yelp in the final qtr. We just can't run out games.

Missing the finals may end up a blessing in disguise. Get a full length preseason into the list.

Too many kids and fossils.

Not enough guys in that 23-28 range.

Agree MT.

I'm not convinced we've been professional enough on training track as previous seasons.

Skills have dropped away. Goal kicking. Understanding of the system and biggest is fitness. Add to this the durability of players which is linked to fitness and training.

I love the quote if it's a 10 goal plus loss it's a player issue. If it's under 10 points it's a coaching issue.

At least 10 players must go, either via delisting or retirement or by trading, otherwise get ready for another generation or two of crap. We only have a handful of youngsters worth keeping at best. Actually compared to other clubs our youth are rubbish. Thanks for the memories Riewoldt Cotch and co but its time for you to EXIT

Richmond have lost strength and rehabilitation coach Rob Inness who has been lured by Sydney to head the Swans' high-performance team.

One of the reasons for our lack of run and fitness this year? Based on each team's fortunes, it's been a massive loss for us and a massive gain for the Swannies who are flying.

Great question,

We lost personnel and didn’t replace them. Other clubs seemed to have snapped them up.

If anyone could be bothered they should look at every clubs support staff and compare with what we have got and then ask if we are one of the rich clubs that didn’t make a loss during the Covid crisis then why aren’t we paying for a  good support network.
This crap didn’t work during the Wallace years why do they think it would work now.

There May be an issue there but for mine it’s a combination of the following

4 years of making the last week or the season, resulting in a shorter break between end and start of season.

Shorter preseason

Lack of desire after winning 3 out of 4

Depth of injuries has been massive this year

Mentally cooked, the strain of being the hunted will eventually take its tolll.

I think the best thing will be missing the finals and letting everyone have a long break.

We possibly aren’t prepared as well physically and the change back to longer arts has also hurt us.

Too old/too young/too slow/too content/too lazy/too unskilled/too dumb/too injured/all of the above... :shh

Bump.

It's a major worry that since Rob Inness left our ability to run out games and outlast the opposition has fallen away and the number of (repeat) soft tissue injuries feels like it has increased.

Do you think we aren’t fit MR? I’m not sure . I think we were lazy slow  and cocky, that’s why we lost.

Unless we have youth running through the mid to help dusty bolts we will be lucky to finish 9th. Unfortunately our youth (Ross) are useless and only know how to break momentum.

RCD may not be everyone’s cup of tea but he seems quicker in the games I’ve seen. He needs to play.

If he can’t win a contested possession or even get possessions in the VFL, how do we expect RCD to be our Saviour in the middle?

I think we all saw him in the VFL grand final and thought there were glimpses of promise but the facts are every time there is opportunity for this kid to show the coaches that he deserves a spot in the ones he doesn’t show enough at VFL.

Do we suggest we play players and reward them for not performing?
