Richmond vs Fremantle @ Optus Stadium --- Round 20, 2021
« on: July 23, 2021, 03:41:56 PM »
Meanwhile, Hardwick said the club had no qualms about spending next week under strict Western Australian quarantine rules in preparation for next week's clash with Fremantle.

The Tigers are preparing to fly to Perth straight after the game against the Cats, bound for a stint at Joondalup Resort.

They will live and train under the same protocols as St Kilda are operating under this week before their meeting with West Coast.

"We're in six days quarantine and get released on the seventh," Hardwick said.

"Released is probably not the word, but we'll be allowed to play on the seventh day against Freo over there.

"It's a little bit of planning and preparation but we've got some great people working behind the scenes who will take care of that.

"We'll get on the plane and give it a crack over there."

Ruckman Darcy is questionable although he played out the game.
Longmuir expects Nat Fyfe’s season is over after the superstar midfielder dislocated his right shoulder in a second consecutive match, while Michael Walters could also be sidelined for the rest of the year.

Nat Fyfe ruled out for the rest of the season due to a recurring shoulder injury.

And the news gets worse for the Dockers with experienced forward Michael Walters not expected to feature again this season either after suffering a serious hamstring injury against the Swans.

Key defender Alex Pearce could also be in doubt for Freo’s crunch clash with Richmond in Perth this weekend after undergoing a concussion test during the final quarter against Sydney, while Sean Darcy’s knee continues to be a concern for Fremantle as well.

FREMANTLE is calling on the spirit of 1995 and will wear its retro green and purple anchor jumper for its round 20 clash with Richmond that is currently scheduled for Optus Stadium.

Freo first wore the jumper in round one in 1995 against the Tigers at the MCG, a game that they narrowly lost after a spirited final-quarter fightback.

The spirit of losing a game :huh3.

Pearce off Alex
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir is offended by rumours Reece Conca is being overlooked for selection so as not to trigger a contract extension, labelling the theory "totally inaccurate".

It's understood Conca, a 150-game veteran, needs to play just two more matches to trigger a contract extension.

But the former Tiger appears unlikely to reach that mark given he opted out of Fremantle's quarantine bubble this week,, meaning he won't be available for AFL selection for the next two matches.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Longmuir said the Dockers would likely replace injured captain Nat Fyfe by increasing inside midfield time for his young onballers and select another player to hold down a wing.

Key defender Alex Pearce will also need to be covered because of concussion against Richmond's three-pronged tall forward line.

Ethan Hughes is a likely option, pushing Luke Ryan into a key defensive role alongside Griffin Logue.

"We feel like we can cover him (Pearce), but we're going to have to be at our best defensively to support our key backs," Longmuir said.

Despite their outs why do I feel we can still lose this by 5+ goals?

Odds on Fyfe will still get the 3 brownlow points

Tigers’ burning question: Does a win make them favourites to finish in eighth spot?

The one thing going Richmond’s way at the moment is the club’s draw, facing no side above eighth in the final four games. The Tigers will enter favourites against Fremantle, but the win is far from a sure thing given their 1-5 record from the past six games, including a thumping at the hands of Geelong last week. There aren’t many more potent confidence boosts than wins on the road, particularly in Perth after spending a week in quarantine. Damien Hardwick has said in recent weeks the side is just lacking confidence – winning on Sunday would surely be the ultimate tonic for that and it could well spur them on to the finals. It’s said a lot in footy, but this week’s game is the genuine make-or-break moment for the dynasty side.

Fox Footy experts’ verdict: Richmond 12-3

------------------------------------------------------

IF ...
the Tigers need inspiration to hang in there and attempt to keep the dynasty going for at least a little while longer ...

THEN ...
they'd no doubt relate to US swimmer Katie Ledecky's Tokyo Games. Copped some early blows in the 400m and 200m freestyle when Ariarne Titmus spectacularly chased her down and then made her look a mere mortal. Enhanced her all-time greatness when she responded, with yet another Olympic gold, her sixth at three different Games, in the newly added event for women, the 1500m. And has qualified fastest for the 800m.

Fremantle assistant coach Josh Carr has been stood down by the club indefinitely after being charged by WA police for breaching the state’s strict quarantine rules following his return home from the Gold Coast on Sunday.

Carr has been issued with a summons for three alleged breaches and will not be allowed to attend Sunday’s clash between Fremantle and Richmond at Optus Stadium, or training sessions at the club during the week. He has to complete the rest of his quarantine entirely at his residence.

Carr isn’t aboriginal. It seems as though it makes a huge difference.

If your not convinced watch the four corners documentary “Australia’s Shame”.
https://www.abc.net.au/4corners/australias-shame-promo/7649462

It’s a wonder why all those applauding the dictators for throwing stack in jail are so silent now  :shh

Why is that?
Is it because it would be absolutely ridiculous to throw someone in solitary confinement for a quarantine breach?
Maybe that’s only done during Christmas time for extra effect?

There were a few on here wanting Stack delisted too. Shame on you!
The club that keeps giving.
