Surely Gibcus is due for a rising star nomination playing key position in his first year of AFL.

12 disposals (8k, 4h, 6c, 6u, 83.3% eff.)
6 marks (2 contested marks)
3 tackles
8 intercepts
2 inside 50s
174 metres gained
4 score involvements
92% time on ground

5. Josh Gibcus (+1)

Had his best game of the season against an experienced West Coast attack, often popping up at the contest and getting first hands to the loose ball.

Gibcus was able to not only often shut down his direct opponent but worked to intercept and negate any forward movement the Eagles had pressed on Richmond's backline.

Again having to fill the void left by an absent veteran - this week being Robbie Tarrant - Gibcus stood tall to record eight intercepts, six marks and 12 disposals at a rate of 83.3% while managing not to lose a single one of his defensive one-on-one contests throughout the night.

ROUND 7 STATS
6 Marks
12 Disposals
3 Rebound50s

With Tarrant anticipated to return for this weekend's bout with the Magpies, Gibcus could be given an even more flexible role in Round 8 as he continues his impressive run of form.

Any chance this kid can get a "Rising Star " nomination?

Magnificent selection by Clarke this time. Gibcus is a 250 gamer in the making.

JHF - 52 supercoach points
Gibcus - 64   "              "

How many backmen have been given a rising star nomination. Just another midfielders award

Does anyone really care? Stack finished 3rd back in 2019 and it’s barely mentioned. Did Baker even get nominated and he’s a key in our team.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Agree HRT. Why are some bothered by this? we know and fully understand the talent he has and I, for one, am thankful to Matthew and his team for the selection.

With out a doubt he looks a real good un.Its not just his athleticism either his ball use is great. Can just see him in two or three years time with some genuine strength and size to him.
