The body transformation is real.. Here’s hoping The Sonz also takes a big step forward in his footy this coming season.   #flying #gotiges

He's going to miss the start of the real stuff due to his suspension, but how did we all see Sonz's game today?

I hope he can dominate a few games in the vfl once he finishes his suspension and force his way into the seniors.

Just looks like a very classy long term prospect.

His disposal is something we desperately need to get into the team. We have so many who just don't meet the standard.
If not in the midfield then he should be playing the high HF role and they should be looking to get it into his hands.
Sammy Banks is another who needs to find a way to be more involved because of his ball use.

A break for Richmond’s Tyler Sonsie. Can serve the last two weeks of his three week VFL ban for a behind the play strike in Rounds Zero & 1. The VFL appealed the penalty. But might only miss one VFL clash, can play round 1 of the VFL season (which starts in round 2 of the AFL)

Thought that was just common sense.  What, he has to wait until the vfl starts like 3 weeks later then wait another 2?

Young midfielder Tyler Sonsie is set to spend the opening two rounds on the sidelines through a suspension handed down from the VFL last year.

The former Pick 28 selection has enjoyed a strong pre-season to date to build his selection case ahead of a return, keeping himself in consideration in the minds of his coaches.

Sonsie adds to a midfield unit that is set to be led by Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper and veteran Dustin Martin in 2024, while Dion Prestia is looking to return from a hamstring issue as youngster Thomson Dow also presses his case.

Seen as "a real strength" in Yze's plans, Nankervis expressed his delight in the depth options the Tigers have this year.

"We've seen a lot of what Sonsie can do in a little amount of games. He's come back in great shape, is running really well and he really hit the ground running. He'll be keen to play early," he said.

"I think it's a real strength of our group. I think the depth in the midfield that we've got - Thomson Dow's had a great summer and Dion is a star of the competition. There's so much depth, which we probably haven't had over the last couple of years.

"So hopefully everyone can stay injury-free and really attack that part of the game."

Yup. Didn’t see much of it but attacked the footy and made his presence felt when the ball came his way.

Wish they’d chuck him in the middle even for short spells. I could be mistaken but I think he played forward all game?

Agreed.

I was surprised to see he didn't get much ball. Felt like he was bigger than his numbers tonight.
