Simply put there is no room for both short and banks in the back line. Both fairly significant liabilities defensively.
Agreed.
Trade Short!
Agree trade Short. Wont get much though.
Banks sorry but im still not sold.
Think the improvement statistically anyway coincided with the outlet role he was given in Shorts absence.
I also did the maths on stats. he did improve a bit in 2024 in the last 7 games going from about 8.5 disposals a game in the first 8 games 4 of which were affected by the sub rule, to about 16.3 disposals.
His first 7 games in 2025 not in the Short role he continued to average 16.3 disposals a game nowhere near good enough, but they went significantly up when he started to do the Short role after Short was injured. So how should we interpret that.
We have an article spruiking it up and telling us how many more disposals he got from 2024 to 2025.
when you actually look at the first part of 2024 his stats were greatly affected by being sub. The second half of 2024 his last 7 games of 15 showed he was actually in real terms travelling at about 16.3 disposals a game.
Come 2025 he continued to travel at 16.3 disposals a game until Short was injured and then there was a significant spike.
It is not being disingenuous or unreasonable to actually ask has the improvement actually come from the role. He plays Short role and its simple be an outlet player.
Shorts numbers in this role were well very high but its what you would expect given the actual role.
Hmm improvement im not sold.
A big part of my concern is he is almost exclusively an outside player and lacks any sort of contested game.
