Remember back in 2020 when we played Edwards off the HBF while Houli was injured and he killed it? Probably the last time he played at a consistently high level....two years older now of course -which is ten in football years after 30- but perhaps worth revisiting.... :shh
Why we have Stack played his best footy there imo, Mansell Banks, Brown with talk of Ralphsmith for the role as well.

Playing Edwards in the back half would just make the problem bigger of getting games into kids in the rightful roles. Fmd Rioli is coasting a kid along with short.

Maybe its as simple as saying Edwards at 33  is past it and its time to play a kid in his place despite the possibilty of a real good game here or there.
:cheers

Was just a suggestion.. more than happy to give any of those kids a go but Banks isn't even fit, I had Brown as sub in my changes but have since heard from several sources that he was quite underwhelming in the VFL, Stack will blow up after half-time this early in the year (maybe he could be the sub -but he needs match time), Mansell's solid enough and can at least defend but lacks creativity IMO and Ralphsmith is a winger/high hff... :shh

In the Mix: Round 2

Callum Twomey
afl.com.au
23 March 2022

It might take some rearranging for the Tigers this week with Jack Riewoldt (thumb) set to miss and Dion Prestia out with his hamstring injury. Hugo Ralphsmith was the Tigers' substitute last week and should hold his place, but Thomson Dow, Rhyan Mansell and Matt Parker will be in the mix to play, as will Kamdyn McIntosh coming back from a calf injury that kept him out of round one.

R1 medical substitute: Hugo Ralphsmith (replaced Dion Prestia)

Verdict: Prestia and Riewoldt out for McIntosh and Ralphsmith into the starting 22.

Team Whispers: Round 2

RICHMOND will almost certainly be without two premiership stars in Jack Riewoldt (thumb) and Dion Prestia (hamstring) for its clash with the Giants.

Kamdyn McIntosh (calf) should be fit to return. Matt Parker could be the man to provide some forward line support, while Thomson Dow and Hugo Ralphsmith are options to come into the 22.

Yeah I'd still prefer him to Aarts....hell at this point I'd prefer bringing back the likes of Taylor Hunt & Nathan "Flash" Gordon to Aarts... :shh

Parker is ordinary. Lets see the kids get an extended run. RCD, Miller, Dow, Ralphsmith, Gibcus, Brown for starters.

I don't want to see us lose with our best 22.

Time to blood the young cubs!

Don't shoot the messenger but hearing Caddy may be one of the ins  :-\. I hope the person (knows a couple of recent ex-Tiger players) who told us is wrong.

Dan Rioli is a watch and see too. I think he will still play as he completed training today but a couple of times during the session Dan left the main group and visited trainers at the rehab group.

Agree HB and I don't see Caddy coming in myself. Just passing on what I heard.

Rather we go with youth. At least then win or lose there's some long term benefit.

In:  Kmac, Dow, Stack, Sonsie.

Out: Riewoldt (inj.), Prestia (inj.), Dusty (personal), Aarts (never again).

B:    Gibcus      Grimes       Broad
HB:  Short        Tarrant       D.Rioli
C:    McIntosh    Bolton       Pickett
HF:  Edwards      Balta        Graham
F:    Castagna     Lynch        Baker
R:    Nankervis    Cotchin     Dow
Int:  Soldo, Ross, Stack, Ralphsmith

sub: Sonsie

Going by Dimma's presser we won't be making any changes beyond those forced.

Dimma said Kmac will come in and Balta to play forward in Jack's role.
