I’m philosophical about where we are at. I just don’t want Dimma to be stubborn about playing kids.

Let’s get RCD and Sonsie into the team and see how they go. I don’t care if we lose every week. We need to find the next gen. The Cotchin era was glorious but it’s done.

 Sub from McIntosh 191/92  28/127  -  Baker 173/72  24/67  -  Edwards 182/78  33/284.

6 Juniors aged 19 - 21  Cumberland, Sonsie, Dow, Ralphsmith, Gibcus and Mansell.
10 development and mature players aged 22 - 28
6 vets aged 29 plus.

Imo it a good spread where we get games into enough juniors and at the same time address some obvious issues.

Ins Miller, Mansell, Prestia, Sonsie, Cumberland, RCD, Riewoldt.
three address clearance and contested ball issues. Miller replaces Grimes. Cumberland serves notice to Castagna. Mansell gives us a tough lock down small defender and Riewoldt should bolster our scoring potential.

Outs Ross, Castagna, Aarts, Soldo, Grimes inj, two of Edwards, McIntosh, Baker. Imo Grimes aside who is injured they have all been ordinary this year.

Starting to think the same if Jack comes back, Soldo needs to go out otherwise we're too tall particularly if Miller replaces Grimes which he should.

Miller should but likely won't

Reckon they will bring Jack back in and swing Noah back to replace Grimes

Gosh I hope not.

Balta has looked likely in the forward line. I hope he stays there.

Miller for Grimes IMO and maybe Balta to relieve ruck if Soldo doesn't fit in.

Team Tips:

Dylan Grimes is set for a stint on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring against St Kilda to add to the 1-2 Tigers’ woes. But they could welcome back star trio Jack Riewoldt (thumb), Dion Prestia (hamstring) and Nick Vlastuin (knee) to shore them up in each area of the field. If he’s right to go, Vlastuin figures as Grimes’ replacement, while Thomson Dow and Hugo Ralphsmith would be unlucky to get dropped for either Prestia or Riewoldt after solid displays against the Saints. Could Damien Hardwick get bold and dump premiership star Shane Edwards after a quiet start to the year or even ditch the two-ruck setup? Jack Ross was also below his best against the Saints and could also be in the firing line. Dustin Martin’s (personal reasons) return remains indefinite for now.

Zaine Cordy will miss this weekend after suffering a concussion in the Bulldogs’ much-needed win over Sydney. It could open the door for Josh Schache to return to the side, particularly given Richmond’s size up forward. Hayden Crozier should return for potentially Anthony Scott or Roarke Smith, while the Dogs could ponder bringing in Stefan Martin or Jordon Sweet to give Tim English a chop out and to combat the Tigers’ dual ruck setup. Mitch Hannan’s spot could also come under threat after a quiet start to the season, including just four disposals against the Swans. Rhylee West (33 disposals, 10 tackles) and Lachlan McNeil (21 disposals, five goals, nine tackles) are also banging the door down for senior opportunities after dominant VFL outings.

Cumberland won't make the grade Claw. Like Mansell and would play him every week.

Cumberland now guaranteed to play at least 200 games and Mansell now a near certainty to be delisted... :shh

“I think (Dion) Prestia should be right to play, ‘Lamby’ (Kane Lambert) is getting a lot closer, I think Jack (Riewoldt) will be right to play, (Nick) Vlastuin is getting a lot closer as well,” Balme said.

In the Mix: Round 4

Callum Twomey
afl.com.au
6 April 2022

There will be some changes at the selection table at Punt Road this week with Dion Prestia (hamstring) set to be back from his hamstring injury and Jack Riewoldt (thumb) also expected to return. Dylan Grimes will be a forced out with his hamstring setback. Ben Miller was omitted last week when Grimes returned from soreness so could come back in to fill a defensive post, while the Tigers will have to think about another possible debutant, with draftee Tyler Sonsie starring at VFL level with 34 disposals and a goal.

Verdict: Riewoldt, Miller and Prestia in for Grimes, Jake Aarts and Jack Ross.
