Dimma's post-match presser:

Watch here: https://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/1094199/round-3-hardwick-post-match

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Lost contests. Down 17 in contested ball and then -25 after Grimesy went off.

* St Kilda in the last quarter transitioned from the back half at 44%. So our backs are trying to defend 1-on-1 against quick ball movement.

* So that sums up the last quarter. You can lose contests but your pressure has to be right up there. Ours was only 1.67. So if you lose both of those you're in a bit of trouble.

* It is frustrating but for 3 quarters it was pretty bloody good. So the disappointing last quarter will be the overriding thing to come out of the game but for 3 quarters we were very competitive against a pretty good side. So we've got a few things we can work on but there's some things we did well today as well.

* Grimesy's hammy - not too sure how much time he will miss. Wait for scans and see what the medicos say.

* Max King was on the back of some good work. When they transition easily from the back half the ball is coming in without pressure. You could be Alex Rance, Steve Silvagni and all those guys and you're not going to have a chance. Our guys are trying their best but when you've got a clear leading lane and a crisp pass you and me could get that kick and mark. Don't get me wrong King is a special player and he's finishing was elite as well. So it's easy to look at the outcome but there's bigger issues further upfield for us at that stage.

* Gresham got more it. We got overrun. We had to move Broady deeper who was very good for us. We just couldn't get it done. Their forwards were very good and they moved the ball extremely well in the second half especially that last 1.5 quarters. What they do well is they win contests and as soon as they get a sniff they're gone. When they get the game on their terms in the contests they are hard to stop. So all credit to them.

* The competition is even. Sometimes you're going to come up against a side that is travelling very well and there's other sides that aren't travelling well. It's too early to predict. They are a good side. When they are playing their best footy they are a very capable side and a capable side in contending. As are 15-16 other sides us included. When you have a bit of an off quarter like we did tonight it certainly can hurt you on the scoreboard the other way.

* Last quarter fade-outs?
I'd like to say not to read too much into it but as you say it's happened. So we'll go to work. Carlton game was contested ball and fundamentals and today was the same. So we'll look at those contests. Funnily enough there were stages where we had an outnumber at those contests but just couldn't win it. They were cleaner, tougher and got the ball forward. So there's things we've got to better in that one.

* Stack - didn't play VFL due to being a close contact.

* Riewoldt - wanted to play but Dimma didn't think he was right. Jack wasn't happy as he's very competitive. He could be missing two fingers and want to play.  He's a warrior. He'll back into the side next week.

* We'll look at the 3 talls. It worked at stages. Is 5 too many? We'll go through it and see what works for us. Look at the opposition and what presents there. Work our way through it at selection. We've got 6 days to come up against a good Bulldogs outfit that was good the other night.

* Dusty - no nothing new.

Dimma always goes to the stats after a disappointing loss.
Sorry but surely you can coach around discipline or poor tackling technique??  Cop out to Blame only the players.
You can start with dropping players who consistently give away 50mtr penalties.

Maybe he needs to look at the types doing the damage. Steele and Crouch two big bodied mids slaughtered us in contested ball clearances and tackles inside.
These big bodied mids are regularly getting hold of us yet we do nothing.

Not like we have any ourselves, like RCD or Ross haha.

I know let's draft a HBF and see if he can go inside in 2 years.

Dimma complaining about close contact rules. Well tell me how did it effect stacks non selection in round 2 ahead of duds like aarts and Ross?

He can complain all he likes, but if he keeps going down the same well the result will be like what we saw last night.

I just watched presser in full.

I know the HUN has jumped on his comments to make it political and yes he said it but it was half in jest. Journo who asked the question about Stack not playing said " no Stack today is there an issue there?"   ::)

But agree Frankie, silly comment for Dimma to make. Reeks of deflection

he isn’t  the only one. Goodwin now also, and probably most of the coaches who have a brain would also agree.

That said i actually dont give a flying stuff in the context that dimma is complaining about. If he wanted stack in the team then god knows how he didnt make it in after the round 1 disaster.

Stop deflecting.

The AFL on Monday seemingly moved to distance itself from those comments.

"We maintain the same position as we have for the last two years that the health and safety of everyone in the community is paramount and we are led by the relevant state governments regarding the protocols that are required to continue to keep the community safe and well," the AFL said in a statement to AFL.com.au.

"The work of everyone on the front line of the ongoing COVID pandemic – nurses, doctors, healthcare workers - has been nothing short of incredible and we thank them for their continued dedication and sacrifice, and we will continue to play our role in doing what we can to support their efforts in keeping the community safe."

The AFL is a mouth piece for corruption. Lets not forget the supplements scandal and more recently dimwitriou's comments. Ooh and who could forget shockings efforts to destroy us by watching our dynasty on repeat.

Who could forget their stance on marriage equality. Surprised they didnt instruct all players to take the knee.

There was nothing wrong with those comments in isolation, as Goodwin perfectly articulated, but as a long time supporter i dont want to hear Dimmas hypocritical views. He had his chance to play him the week before and decided to run our vets into the ground instead

Lastly I’m still waiting for that dumb bimbo to acknowledge goodwins comments or doesn’t it suit her at this point in time, as he “won”

Dimma has posted on Twitter his comment was totally tongue in cheek

Pity the media missed it.
