Finding it very hard to stomach Jack Higgins playing himself into AA contention when we got Matty Parker & George running around in our forward line.

Yep, WP is right. Higgins walked out on us.

I would argue he would be just ordinary like he was in the second half of last year with St Kilda if he was still with us given our poor midfield-forwards connection. This year the Saints' midfield group is far better and working harder applying immense pressure on the opposition while Max King has straightened them up as a team. So St Kilda's forward entries, whether from clearances or tonight more from turnovers, are cleaner into a more open forward line and more predictable to read for their small forwards like Higgins. They're second on the ladder now for a reason and Higgins is benefitting feeding off the workrate of his teammates upfield.


Anyway, we'll see how Tom Brown and Judson Clarke go over their careers who we ultimately both got in return (via future picks) for Higgins before we judge who came out in front.

He had ample opportunity with us even after this I’m kinda shocked that he actually wanted to leave us when he was only with us for such a short time.

We are better off simple because you want players who want to be at your club. Who are prepared to work hard to earn or keep their spot. He's a bloke who said he couldn't understand why he was dropped in 2020. Why he didn't get picked in the 2020 GF side. A bloke who when traded but hadn't played a game for them said he'd always wanted to play with St Kilda and felt he was home

Our Club backed him, supported him with his health issues but it wasn't enough. It would appear all he really wanted or believed he was entitled to was free ticket into the side every week.

The kid is a simpleton who got a brain injury.

It's a miracle he's back playing footy let alone being the most dangerous small forward in the game at this minute. He would have kicked 6 against us if he didn't get hurt.

I'm speaking from a purely footy perspective when it comes to who you would want in your side. Jason Castagna or Jack Higgins. stuff me what a difficult choice. And the Saints actually play him forward...

Remember Dan butler’s debut season with saints? It’s not like he’s Eddie betts. I’m happy Higgins is getting games and he can showcase his talent but as everyone else said he wanted out and I doubt he’d be lighting it up with our team’s current poor tacking poor defensive work and shoddy inside 50s

What we have been poor tho is recruiting to fill the space that has been left by Lloyd, Higgins and Butler. Absolutely no small forward apart from Judson Clarke who looks a Ayer which is great. Think banking on Aarts and Castagna has been a bit negligent. Lookin forward to seeing Clarke come into the side soon.

What we have been poor tho is recruiting to fill the space that has been left by Lloyd, Higgins and Butler. Absolutely no small forward apart from Judson Clarke who looks a Ayer which is great. Think banking on Aarts and Castagna has been a bit negligent. Lookin forward to seeing Clarke come into the side soon.

Like I said before our list management has been terrible over the last 4 years.

Surely there would have been some cheap finds to fill needs especially in our midfield.

How MRJ isn’t getting regular game time is confusing to me as well. His vfl output is better than others in the seniors.

Love to know our age profile now, especially that middle bracket.

I don't think small forward was ever a strength of ours. The one area they prospered was defensive fwd pressure but people have argued right along that that has never been enough and we should have been aiming for more rounded fwds.

Maybe the one we will regret losing is Stengle.

MRJ Two games last year were two of the most underwhelming games i have seen up there with Samson Ryan.

If he is dominating in the two,s then i agree we need to look at him again. Imo anything would be better than Castagna and Aarts.
