Do we know for sure that it's a hammy, or is that the club's way of protecting his privacy?

Not happy with Meehan, but just positing the question...

The hammy is real.

 But it’s a secret  :shh
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Bauer's mark on the weekend.

Crap footage but looked great from what I can see.

Surely there's a spot for him in the forward line. Don't understand why we try to turn everyone into defenders bar Lynch, Dusty & Bolton.

With Lefau going down he will have to play fwd I would think along with grey. Looks like it’s don’t play Kosi at whatever cost

Richo’s big tick of approval for Bauer

Jacob Bauer’s performance for Richmond against Hawthorn at the MCG last Sunday caught the eye of Tiger great Matthew Richardson.

The 192cm, 22-year-old, in only his sixth game of AFL football, had a tough task playing forward on star Hawks’ key defender and captain James Sicily.

But Bauer acquitted himself admirably, finishing the match with 12 disposals, 11 contested possessions, five marks (all of them contested) and three score involvements.

One of Bauer’s marks was a spectacular ‘hanger’ on Sicily.

“I think he showed on the weekend that he is definitely a player at the level . . . playing in a tough position and playing on a good player,” Richardson said on this week’s episode of the Talking Tigers podcast.

“I love how flies at everything. If the ball’s in the air, he comes at it with pace and from any angle. Richardson said on this week’s episode of the Talking Tigers podcast.

“He gives a contest, and that would be the number one thing that I like about him.

“With his ability to fly at the ball, I don’t think he’ll get outmarked very often.

“I also think he reads the play really well . . .

“He looks a natural forward to me.

“I know he missed that goal (a very gettable set shot v Hawthorn) . . . a few nerves there, but I think, moving forward, when he’s having a set shot at goal, he’s going to kick most of those goals. He’s got a good routine, he can kick a long ball.

“Once we get up and going next year, and our ball movement gets to where it needs to be, he’ll get more opportunities.

Richardson believes Bauer would ideally slot in as the third target in Richmond’s forward structure.

“(Tom) Lynch would be your anchor point, deep, and then you’d have (Mykelti) Lefau, who’s shown that he can hit up and lead at the footy as well. And then if you’ve got Bauer, who flies at anything, it starts to look alright,” he said.

Agree with Cho. I think he has good potential as a forward. Just get games into him next year.

Only saw bits and pieces of the game. Every play I saw from him was a ripper mark followed by a horrendous kick.

No wonder Richo was impressed.... :shh

Currently Lacks pace and  size and strength. Things that can be worked on i suppose.
Looks very promising in the air but he needs to be more than just a good mark.

Jury still out for mine as it is with most of our kids.

Reckon you would’ve said the same thing about Jack 15 years ago. Not saying he will scale those lofty heights but the spring and the hoof are nice attributes to be built upon

Can take a grab and has some talent, but has missed relatively easy crucial shots the past two weeks that killed momentum...needs to translate the composure in front of goal he's showed in the VFL to the AFL.... :shh

Have my reasons but i think we should develop him in defense.
I know a lot will disagree.

Im looking at this years draft and im looking at what is currently conjecture but realistic when it comes to what picks we may end up with
Then im looking at what we may do and get with those picks.

Forget about what WE think is a good trade for us. Lets just look at what is definately a chance of getting done.

Rioli to GCS for 6 and 20. Again we may get more, we may get less. But it is definately thereabouts.
Bolton to Freo for pick 9 and 17 some will  say 9 and 10  but this deal would get done imo. There may be other picks involved but its ball park
Baker to wce for pick 12 the Barass compensation. They may want something back so lets do it. Give em pick 41. It is slightly overs. Most are saying Baker is worth a pick 15 thru 18. So take 12 and make up the points difference. We just cannot use all our picks this year.
No word on Graham yet but id say he is going. To go id say he is getting a decent contract so on this one  lets be real optimistic and say he gets band 3 or pick 22.

Our picks then become 1, 6, 9, 12, 17, 20, 21, 22, 29, 39, 47, 57, 66, 73.

This is where Bauer to the backline comes in. Bear with me.

1, Sam Draper as much as i want to make certain of getting one of Smillie or Lalor i think this kid is a clear #1 pick.

6, Lalor or Smillie hoping one gets to here. Inside out mids who are bulls and in Lalors case explosive.Smillie can go  forward.

9, Armstrong not prepared to leave him on the board any longer than this pick. Imo the best kpf in the draft.

12, Reid or Travaglia. Yes im torn here, if both are actually available. Travaglia is a drean hb  with size and could replace Rioli. Reid would be close to best available mid left. I think i lean towards Travaglia.

17, Hamish Davis 190cm utility.  one i was hoping would stay under the radar. lovely sized utility who could play very well as a fwd and he could go thru the midfield. This is the Bauer connection strong over head athletic a great runner.

20,Taj  Hotten im looking  for Boltons replacement here. Looks a very good fwd/mid prospect.

21, Cooper Hynes i like the bigger mids and this kid is another bull

22, Jobe Shanahan or maybe Jack Whitlock if one gets to here you would snaffle them. We need key Forwards despite what our numbers say.

Any way others are probably more informed but i think most would be pleased with a similar outcome to the above
