Edwards, Lambert and Jack (bar that one tackle) have been an absolute liability tonight. Losing almost every contest.

Hard disagree on Lambert and Jack.

They lifted in the last quarter but until then we're terrible IMO.

Lambert looks stuffed, can hardly turn, no acceleration etc. Entirely reliant on being a smart player. Similar Jack, always looking for a tap or free kick, rarely winning any contest except that last 30-40min of the game.

Thought Jack's pressure was great tonight, 2 goals, 13 disposals, 5 effective tackles, 3 of which were frees for. Much much better than a liability.

Lambert had 23 and 2 great tackles, was generally smart and clean on a difficult night. Very important in his role and nowhere near a liability.

Edwards on the other hand...glad he kicked that goal. Otherwise a very worrying night from him. Looked reluctant to pick up the pill.

Is that a record for inside 50s? If not it must be close. Don’t think I’ve ever seen us go inside 76 times. Just shows how wasteful we were with our entries. Thought short was a bit of a culprit in that regard, for such a beautiful kick he managed to pick out the blues defender when it was easier to hit a teammate.

Thought jacks tackling was great and one of the reasons we got over the line. Was great having lynchy back too. Is playing really strong atm, 3 goals is a nice return plus brought the ball to ground even when outnumbered and generally had his opponent worried so much they would drop chest marks.

I was getting ready my post to say how I thought it was tarrants best game for the club at 3 qtr time but wowee how that changed in the last. Got absolutely pantsed by McKay. Just seems that the oppo just have to put the ball 1% to the advantage of their fwd and that’ll be enough to beat him. Now with balta injured he’ll prob get an extended run in the team. I’d be picking Miller and if he isn’t an improvement then atleast they’ll know when they make their list decisions at the end of the season.

One thing is for certain, I don’t feel secure with any margin of lead with this team. We can leak goals in very quick succession and have lost a number of games because of it. Absolute opposite to our premiership years where we could be on the back foot and still not let through a run of goals.

The highlight for me was the tackling. Daniel Rioli played a very good game. His tackle in the third quarter was outstanding as was Pickett's tackle on Cripps.

Start by stating good win i didn't think we would and to be honest they are a team i would hope we don't have to play again.

Really think the weather gave us an edge i got the impression that they got hands on the ball first but coughed it up a lot.
76 i50's for just 11 goals generally speaking we are not an overly polished side and imo it shows up here

Think Prestia is the key to how far we can go.

- Montagna said it was the record lowest score (81 pts) for any team with 75+ forward 50 entries.

- Blamed having the ball in our forward half so much that Carlton flooded. Slippery conditions combined with large numbers in our F50 made scoring difficult.

- Time in forward half differential was twice that of Melbourne's average (+9 to +10 mins).

- Jordan Lewis said it's a glass full/empty scenario. When you go inside 50 you've got to have diversity. You should win by 10 goals with that many inside 50s.

RICHMOND

The stats indicate Richmond should’ve won by a hell of a lot more, but regardless it was yet another impressive performance that indicates the Tigers are well and truly September-bound. That’s six wins from their last seven matches and the Tigers and, even though some of those wins were against lowly opposition, the way they’ve been playing is a warning sign to the rest of the competition.

In the votes

Liam Baker continues to thrive for this Richmond side, while Dion Prestia is huge whenever he is at the centre bounces. Kane Lambert was another steadying influence given his presence allows Prestia ti spend more time in the middle. Tom Lynch kicked three goals in the first half, while Shai Bolton finally converted some of his chances, even though he missed a sitter early. Nick Vlastuin and Dylan Grimes down back were huge.

Room for improvement

Carlton piled on three quick goals in the final quarter and could’ve had a fourth if not for a touchy (pardon the pun) score review, so there’s certainly an opportunity to tighten up there and stop things from getting to dire from centre bounce, which they did well for the most part throughout the match. They had 76 inside 50s, nearly 20 more than their average, but failed to make the most of it, going well below average in terms of efficiency.
