* Two things:
- First half intent was poor. Pressure rating of 1.6 was abysmal.
- System held up. 60 inside 50s for 33 scoring shots. However, we didn't execute. Kicked just 1 goal from 9 shots within 30m from goal. We're paid to kick goals.
* North played well. Their hardness and their ability to play on quick was good but if you look at that template we should've won.
* Aarts error - need to realise firstly players try to win. If he had his time again he'd take it back but he made that decision. We move on. There are numerous reasons [for the loss]. The last D50 stoppage goal was poor. Can't let a guy come from the other side of the pack and stroll into an open goal. It was ridiculous.
* Sums us up at the moment. Richmond killing Richmond. Been numerous games this year. I think we are a quite capable side but unfortunately we aren't doing things well enough for long enough. That's on me!
* We can turn it around [in the next 5 weeks] and if we get there we are a chance. But we've got work to do. We've got to figure out what makes us us. At the moment, we're doing a lot of things right but just killing ourselves. It's a challenge. You sit there and reflect on what we could've done about this, that and the other but we just had to kick goals.
* Goalkicking?
I thought our composure around the arc was poor. Our ability to find a teammate in a better position was poor. North's pressure was okay but we should've been better and cleaner in those situations to make a good decision. If you give yourself enough opportunities with 60 inside 50s you've got to make more of it. So it's on us.
* Message to the players?
Pretty easy. Firstly, intent first half was poor. 1.6 = diabolical! Does it look like a North Melbourne game or a Richmond game? It looks like a North Melbourne game. Second half was better but skill execution and mistakes. North were good but we should've been better.
* Freo game next game?
Up to us. We are No.1 for inside 50s in the AFL but we're not scoring as much as we should while conversely the opposition is scoring more easily than they should. Clearly tonight not good enough with our contest work behind the ball.
