It’s the coach
« on: July 16, 2022, 10:51:33 PM »
I love Dimma. Let’s get that straight up and out.

The man has won us 3 flags - it makes him immortal.

That’s the reason I’m holding him accountable for this season.

We’ve been in front of every game this year in the 3rd qtr (until today).

We hit the front in the 4th q which means we’ve led in the second half in EVERY SINGLE GAME THIS SEASON.

The kicking for goals is one thing but the leaking of goals up the other end is the bigger issue.

Our reluctance to cover our turnovers leaves us exposed to the turnover score.

They kicked well because they were allowed to get easy scores. Nothing was kicked from the boundary so where was the territory coverage in that wedge from the goal square to the 50m line?

How did they score so easily after we hit the front? Sydney showed how to defend a lead vs the Dockers.

That’s not the players. It’s the training.

Dimma took responsibility for last week’s loss, he has to take that again. To be honest, he cost us the game vs the Cats by playing Dusty and Bolton deep after Maurice got us in front with 2mins to go.
WTF Dimma? Coaching 101. Game to be win, best players in midfield to win it or kill it. Not Jack effing Ross.

What happened to learning from our losses? We were amazing in learning from our losses in 2017, we look like we are now feeding from them.

Again, that’s coaching.

He’s starting to look like a coach trapped in his own ego.

I’m not saying sack him but the club needs to give him a shake and remind him that 2013-2016 won’t be an aberration if he keeps us this poo.

Another poor coaching effort - on and off the field.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I like the theory

If we lose by 100 points its a player issue
If we lose by under 10 points its a coaching issue.

Personally think the last 2 weeks a simple player issues reverses these results, Castagna goals and we win, Jack kicks 1 of the 2 goals at the end, we win. That aside I think there have been many coaching issues under the hood for the past 2 years.

Dimma has earnt the right to have a 2nd crack, if we gave him a chance after the 2016 debacle we have to give him a 2nd chance and rebuild the list again to challenge. That can be short or long term success, depending on what Dusty does. If Dusty leaves we are better of building a list around Vlastuin and Short age group, if Dusty stays we could bring in a Mitchell or Sloane type and have a crack again. I'm angry with Dimma but he's earnt to not be thrown out without a chance to rebuild a list again. Just my opinion.

I also think our system has shown it has aged. Our system can win all the KPI's today but there are elements where our system can easily be scored against with a huge pile on of goals. They kicked 7 unanswered goals. In so many games teams get a run on. Needs addressing in off season for next year. The system base game works but needs different personal and tweaking the defensive side to stop the pile on effect.

Our one wood is pressure it’s the Richmond way our dna for premiership success.

We are one of the worst teams at pressure and our tackling efficiency is the worst.

Our defence is atrocious and our captains have played the worst season of their careers.

Our midfield is small and weak comparably with other teams. We need 2 x pure mids.

Also, we need a settled back six. Mess around with it and this is the crap that happens.

Balta is a defender let’s stop pretending he can play forward.

Baker shouldn’t be playing up forward either. Waste of talent and it makes absolutely no sense that for some inexplicable reason players think it’s a great idea to kick the ball to him when he’s in a one on one  :facepalm :help

Also need to stop pretending (I stopped long ago) that dusty is the best player in the league, or even a top shelf player for that matter, because he's done diddly squat all year and clearly won't save this team.

Plenty of good kids showing a bit. We really just need to retire some old guys and to be honest if we can get anything for Dusty + offload his salary it would be a good outcome for the club purely business perspective.

This BS of playing players out of position is killer hasn't worked at all only should be used to plug a hole or injuries in our flag years we played players in there natural positions.

Said this many times mate, but Dusty has been on the decline since the beginning of last year. His old man haf little to do with it back then IMV, so I can only think of one other reason that has contributed to his and the clubs decline  :shh

I've echoed that sentiment myself re: decline.

What do you think is behind it? I also am not convinced it's his dad. Age? Hunger?

Regardless the honest truth is that if he wants to go I would be trying to dump as much salary as possible. If Taranto, Hopper and Fogarty are gettable I legit think that would keep us in contention at the expense of Dusty, Lambo, Shedda and maybe Jack.

For me it’s a list that has had its day in the sun… and what a magnificent time it was for all of us long suffering tigers . Now this group is ageing or has aged , they can’t chase as fast , react as fast , or maybe give a toss as much as before. By the list I actually include the whole club. Peggy is moving on, Benny maybe has bigger fish to fry, balmy is nearing the end of his wonderful career in football I’d imagine , and just maybe Dimma has other issues taking prominence.. it’s time for our club to rebuild id imagine.. I eagerly await the next phase of RFC

Hmm Is  it the coach. IMO he is certainly guilty of one thing. He has become incapable of dropping or even cutting players who have had success with him.Imo he is too close to the players to make hard calls. Imo we have stopped looking for upgrades in players. We also have not learnt from the changes the game has endured.
