Personally i would have prefered we keep Smith and cut Short. I would have preferred we keep Fawcett and cut Ryan. Ryan is actually replaced by Briggs. Fawcett gets another year to grow.
Rucks would be Nankervis,  Briggs, with Sims as fwd/ruck and even Balta as a poor mans second ruck. Remember Carr and OH-B are both cat B rookies and are a free go at it. They don't actually cost a list spot. They should be looked at as long shots and unlikely to make it.

I think we could do a lot worse than taking HVH given he is a totally different type to both Nankervis and Briggs who are similar.
In three four years time HV-H and Sims look a great modern ruck combo to start going into finals with. Nankervis will be retired and Briggs around the 30 year mark. Would be a huge bonus if one of the cat B rookies actually become good players but there would be no reliance on it.

Delist
Rioli
Green
Both have had heaps of time and opportunity and failed.
It still leaves on the list Alger, Peucker, Mansell, and fwd/mids Hotton,Campbell. Truth is its an area that needs trimming.

If and i hope its not the case but it could be a reality we take one of  Texiera or  Butler  we will have another mid forward. I really like the proven inside out mid with pace  power and a great size  and proven ball winning ability in Drever.
Point is we don't need Rioli or Green we already have better players with more potential to develop and we may even be adding to them with pick 2 if they go Texiera or Butler..

Ralpshite
Banks
Sonsie
all are not up to afl standard and have too many deficiencies. They all have had many opportunities and time to show they belong and failed.
We just have to do a hell of a lot better with outside types than these three.

Retire
Prestia
Broad.

Im a bit torn and ask myself should we have given Lynchy a gentle tap on the shoulder to add to the retiree list.

I dont think it is too hard to look at the list and say 15 - 20 need to go. As i have stated before i think the absolute minimum has to be 8 im looking at 10 and its easy to do.
This draft is a last chance saloon before Tassie starts raping the whole system.

You've listed 5 names to cut Claw, +2 if we included the blokes already retired, +3 if we include the contracted Short, Ryan and Lynch.

Who are the other 5-10 you'd cut to get to 15-20?

I agree on all points otherwise, more or less.

Ohb has to be given a proper list spot if he is retained.

Pies delisted 6 players today just a few days after their season ending.

What is causing us as more or less the worst team in the league to have only cut 2 players a week and a half after our season ended?

List turnover this year ive called for at least 10 turnovers.

So far the club have done this

OUT Prestia, Broad, Fawcett, Smith,
INS Briggs.

Need another 6 for the target of 10.

Ralphsmith. Rioli, Green, Sonsie, Ryan, Short. Would do em all in a heartbeat knowing a couple are contracted.

The next 5 which would have to wait until 2027

Lynch - was tempted to cut him this year. He has been given another year.  Am interested to see what tall forwards become available this year.
Banks - Really is just a meh type and soft as butter. Maybe i should make the criteria 11 lol.
Trezise - Prefer him to Banks but he does lack  skills. Another you could do this year.
Clarke - Just not sold on him and thats injuries aside.  Need a huge year to PROVE HE ACTUALLY IS AFL STANDARD.
Burton - Happy to give him a second year but have grave doubts. If certain areas don't improve then it would be an easy delist.

A few others id be looking for upgrades on or hoping kids we have go past them soon.

Then in another two or three years we will be talking about ND busts that we have recenty taken and make no mistake we are not immune from it there will be busts.
I also think at the most Vlastuin Lynch Nankervis and Short will be gone along with Hopper when his contract runs out.

We have imo so much building to do still.
I hope i have it all wrong i really do but i think we will have to wait until around 2030 to play finals again.

Agree with 8-10 being delisted but would flick Sampson, Tresize, Burton and Steely Greene. If we wanted to go deep because we have options to trade for mature talent then I would add HRS and Sonsie

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Is Trezise contracted for 2027? If not, I would move him on.
I'd consider Clarke too, tbh, or offer a rookie spot.

Banks, Short and Ryan are all (unfortunately) contracted for 2027 and if history tells us anything, that means they won't go. I would trade them all for anything, including throwing in our F3 if it meant someone else just took one of them.

Trezise isnt contracted for 2027

Anyways.....

For reasons I cannot explain I listened to Yze on Talking Tigers last night perhaps in the hope it would give me some hope for 2027...

Anyways It was interesting hearing him talk about players

Think you can take Burton off the list of out of contract...as he was one player on that list that Yze spoke about as being part of the future

Don't mind that given Burton is 19 years old.

Yup delisted after 1 season would be incredibly harsh especially considering we’ve got guys that have been around for 5+ years who are out of contract and still haven’t been delisted.

I’d give Burton another 1 year deal. not sure if he’s on the primary or rookie list but would look to rookie him if possible and same with Juddy Clarke. The rest of the out of contract crew can go.

Wait to see what happens there and then make final calls

I really would like us to have a crack at getting some more picks or at least one

2, 21, 24, 30 to 35ish,38, 54, 70. Armstrong acadamy and Leys f/s with the last two

I really want us to be looking at the state leagues as well and utilise at least one rookie pick Anthony Depasquale 21yo mid size forward has kicked goals back end of the season in fact he has a couple of teammates worth looking at. Brady Wright is kicking goals for fun and Mun by all reports is having a great year talk about a tall player with a mighty leap.

What is in the water at Werribee.

A lot of state league clubs would have upgradeson our a lot of our players playing for them.

They’ve mentioned in the article on the clubs website that juddy clarke is heading to the states with Gibbo. Do we take that to mean that he’s signed or will sign a new contract for next season? Be strange to send him to the states on the clubs coin if he’s not gonna be listed next season.

Idk if they have written it poorly.

Trying to say , Mykelti Lefau and Clarke went there previously.
