Bit out of the blue. Sacking a coach at this time of the year is interesting

Oh well. Rats gets paid for the next 2 years to sit on the couch. Good on him

So St Kilda re-signed Ratten in July for two more years, did stuff all during the trade period about their middle of the rung topped up list except hang Hunter Clark out of dry, and then sacked Ratten six weeks after the season has finished and the day after the trade period. And the Saints wonder why they've won just one flag in their history and now have twice the longest premiership drought as any other club.

They are a complete basket case. My neighbour moved down this way to be closer to Moorabin, and last night was applauding the decision to “clean out the joint”

I said what about your pathetic recruiting and the response was it’s all about the coach.

Seriously just fold the bastards and be done with it.

Hope Ratts goes on like Truck, and I hope King leaves that club.

What a rabble

Like MT said no wonder they only won 1 flag.

The blokes who re-signed him 100 days ago, now sack him. What a stable effective leadership team they are.

Well at least they a relevant now (for all the wrong reasons) for at least the next week

Brett Ratten deserves better treatment than this. Seems like one of the good guys in footy

I actually dont think he's a bad coach either. Not a great one but he has been very unlucky to coach at two absolute rabbles

Can understand some Saints fan being somewhat pleased that their club seems to want to get ruthless and make a stand now...but whoever was involved with signing Ratten for 2 more years must exit the door with him.

Exactly. Why not wait until the conclusion of the review to renew him? To extend his contract a few months before that review was completed and then sack him as a result of that review is insane. Heads should roll higher up for that.

Yep surely it will cost them $1-1.5million you'd think.

Disgraceful management.

An angry Saints member rang up SEN and said the sacking was made the day after their automatic membership renewal. Not happy campers!

The honchos at St Kilda today wanted to use the "hindsight" excuse in their press conference. If those running that club didn't know where their side and list was at in July when they had fallen outside the top 8 after missing the finals the previous year then what makes them think they know now. LOL at hoping the senior coach would get them into the finals but didn't. Reminded me of us 20-30 years ago.

Seriously, what a rabble!

Exactly. Especially when they are on the AFL drip due to being $5million in debt  :thumbsdown.

I almost fell off my chair today when one of the idiots in their presser said they were willing to wear the $1-1.5 million cost. You're not wearing the cost you clown; it's the whole competition. We've had well run clubs like ours forced to let good people go due to the enforced reduced soft cap and this rabble are throwing $1.5 million away like it's confetti  >:(.

A saints fan told me he thinks the payout is only 6 months due to some clause in his contract. Hopefully someone can confirm.

Can’t believe we lost to them.

I’d be happy if they just folded. They make me sick.

Yep agreed.

Honestly they're so crap they'd be better off trading out their good players and using Ratten's last two years to tank for picks, then get a new coach.

Interesting, no idea myself but surely it would still be at least $300-500,000.

They should merge with Norf and move to Taz.
