From Jon Ralph in the HeraldSun:

Scott Lycett planned to sign a one-year deal at Port Adelaide to play alongside Jordon Sweet, but will instead be delisted following Ivan Soldo's acquistion.

Richmond may, as a result, be in the mix.

Richmond will consider all options to bring in ruck back-up while it also gives Samson Ryan and Ben Miller opportunities behind co-captain Toby Nankervis.

Lycett also had a medical at Melbourne, who instead decided to bring in Tom Fullarton.

Rather just rookie Brindley  but Nank, Miller, Ryan, Koschitzke and Pickett if it gets desperate  should be enough to get us through a year where we likely won't be challenging  - Prestia's always a candidate for the LTI as is Grimes and even Lynch and we still don't know what's going on with Gibcus so we can grab a ruck in the MSD if need be.... :shh

No to Lynette.

Just play Ryan when the time comes. Kosi and Miller to chop out. He's going on 23 and been on the list 3 full years now. Time to man up.

Delisted free agents that deserve a second AFL chance

SCOTT LYCETT

Lycett is yet to officially be moved on from Port Adelaide, but the Power‘s dual ruck acquisitions on deadline day all but confirmed that the premiership Eagle’s days at Alberton Oval are numbered. His manager Colin Young confirmed on Trade Radio on deadline day Lycett was deciding between retiring or continuing his career at a third club. In a virtual trade, Lycett could replace Soldo at Punt Road and provide some experience for Richmond as backup to Toby Nankervis.

HAYDEN CROZIER

Another one who is yet to be delisted but his time at his current club appears close to up, Crozier could be moving onto his third AFL home. Crozier only managed four games in his sixth year at the Bulldogs. Having battled injuries in recent years, the 29-year-old has struggled to maintain a regular spot in Luke Beveridge‘s side. The 142-gamer could yet prove valuable depth for a side close to contending or provide cover for a side lacking defensive experience. Richmond’s back six has become a problem and they could opt for Crozier as a cheap fill-in.

Richmond set to sign ex-Swan ruck

Cal Cummins
House of Footy
22/10/2023

House of Footy understands Richmond will pick up Sam Naismith as a delisted free agent, replacing Ivan Soldo who departed for Port Adelaide.

Naismith was smashed by injury during his time at the Swans, managing just 30 games since his debut in 2014, and only two games since 2017.

After being delisted by Sydney in 2022, the 31-year-old has played for in the VFL for Port Melbourne, but has been recalled to AFL level and will don the yellow and black in season 2024.

Naismith has been prolific for the Borough, averaging 37 hitouts and almost 15 disposals over his 14 games this season.

He'll be 23 in his 4th season and  is the best natural/pure ruckman on the list  , time for him to step up....also have Miller, Balta, Koschitzke and Pickett to give chop outs and we'll likely have an MSD pick or three with with WP's mate Meehan inexplicably still at the club to no doubt provide us with some LTI list opportunities...we can grab a ruck then if need be.... :shh

Ex-Swans ruckman on Tigers' radar after impressive VFL season

By Callum Twomey
afl.com.au
23 October 2023

RICHMOND will consider former Swan Sam Naismith as a delisted free agent as the Tigers scour the ruck market.

The Tigers lost 2019 premiership ruckman Ivan Soldo in a last-day deal with Port Adelaide during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, leaving them with just co-captain Toby Nankervis and youngster Samson Ryan as ruck options.

Richmond had wanted to retain the contracted Soldo, but the 27-year-old had pursued a move to the Power, who traded three selections for him to lead their ruck department.

The Tigers are now on the ruck search, with Naismith on the radar as an option after a standout campaign in the VFL with Port Melbourne.

The 31-year-old ruckman, who played 30 games for the Swans in an injury-hit career, averaged 14 disposals and nearly 40 hitouts a game at the level and could be signed by any club once the delisted free agency period begins next Wednesday, given he was previously on an AFL list.

He had undergone three knee reconstructions during his Sydney career, having played 17 games in 2017 before his final two appearances in Swans colours in 2020, but has pieced together a good run of fitness this season.

Soldo and Jordon Sweet (to Port Adelaide), Brodie Grundy (Sydney), Tom Fullarton (Melbourne), Todd Goldstein (Essendon) and Matt Flynn (West Coast) moved clubs as either trades or free agents this month.

It leaves the Tigers among clubs looking at ruck options with the delisted free agency window and national and rookie drafts to come, with out-of-contract Port Adelaide veteran Scott Lycett still weighing his future.

The Tigers will look at Lycett, with St Kilda and Collingwood also potential suitors, while the Western Bulldogs could also be on the hunt for ruck depth after losing Sweet.

Yep time for Ryan to become a man and take the mantle if he's good enough.  I've had enough of his age as a barrier. Set him loose.

I think taking Naismith as a free agent makes perfect sense.

1) Will cost us nothing draft wise.
2) Minimal level salary
3) Backup Ruck insurance
4) Was a better Ruckman than Nankervis in his day.
5) Will keep Nankervis on his toes.

Makes every bit of sense to me. However, keeping Colina on the list would make no sense at all.....
