Favourite footy food?
« on: January 05, 2023, 05:27:40 PM »
From the AFL's twitter:

A pie and chips or maybe something sweet

What are you tucking into when you're sitting in the stands at the footy?

Chicken burgers are great IMHO, chuck in some hot chips and a beer.

Hot dogs in a thermos was always fun as a kid

Now a pie with sauce and a dozen mid strength’s to make sure it’s washed down properly

I know its not on topic but I was reminded about the visual and noise pollution we are forced to submit to when watching international sports ATM.

In the NFL they have the same vibrant banners flashing (usually exhorting fans to "make some noise" when the visiting team have the ball) but they are all at least on the upper levels. NOT like the ground level pollution we put up with at all grounds. They also seem to keep the noise "announcements" to a minimum. Not sure about pre-game noise but they don't seem to play inane music after each score.

In the Premier league soccer they also do not have the same visual pollution and don't feel the need to blare music after a score. Even though in both games there are much fewer scores. Compare our 20 goals a game with soccer's usual one or two and the NFL's five or so touchdowns per game.

For a sport that claims to "borrow the best" from premium sport overseas, our leaders rulers show a distinct lack of respect for their sport spectators.

What is most obvious is what they refuse to admit - it's all about the money.

Food at the footy is an interesting spectator sport , mine was hot dogs in a thermos like others if I had a young blokes to feed
When we played Melbourne  it was spot the best cheese and  meat platter with club sandwiches
Another time someone brought a fully cooked meal in containers for the family, they really needed a trestle ,
But my favourite was when in the function room ( Brisbane) a couple of ladies brought big lunch boxes , stuffed them full of pies and sausage rolls from the tables so there were none left by the time I got there, they even brought their own sauce
