Emg:   Jack Ross     Samson Ryan     Judson Clarke     Thomson Dow

We're not giving our sub choice away. All four have been named in our VFL squad.

I am amazed people think Cumberland should be in that forward line. Mansell trained as a small forward this off season.
We need someone who can at least look interested in locking the ball in our forward line.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

It's a strong side. Tarrant and Cumberland are only two who I think genuinely can make it better. Maybe Sonsie but it's a strong midfield.

I like Cumberland but maybe some confidence in front of sticks is needed before 100k. Happy to back match committee with a fit list.

Cumbo named in the vfl practice game tomorrow so no injury there. Pretty baffling decision to pick both graham and mansell ahead of him. Prob a reaction to just how easily Melbourne were walking it out of our forward line in the praccy game. Brought graham and mansell in for extra tackling and pressure.

Reckon if you want forward pressure or are concerned about the last practice game that the logical choice isn’t dropping Cumberland.

Time will tell who actually plays forward tomorrow and how they go but I reckon the kid is stiff.

100% I’m just trying to find some reasoning even if I don’t agree with it.

Our practice match against Melbourne probably made the match committee look to players who are going to play our way and apply the pressure that’s required.

I like the inclusions. Miller in was the better decision than Young.

I’m a fan of Mansell so I have no issues with his inclusion and it’s good to see Pickett and Graham in the side too.

If we play our way we should win but if we don’t then it will be a very embarrassing first round opener.
The club that keeps giving.

I don't think the practice match means anything.

Shocked about Cumberland. Graham and Mansell shouldn't be playing IMO.

At the end of the day, we aren’t missing any stars or super critical players.

It’s close to full strength.

No excuses really.

Why shouldn’t he be in it? He kicked 20 odd goals from 7 games last season and was lively at ground level, hard at it and applied good pressure.

Why on earth is he the most obvious omission for us?

True and it’s round one. It won’t be our 22 in September.

Differences of opinion are what makes a forum of course

FWIW I like Cumbo and think he should be starting.

But if we lose, I’m tipping it will be because our defence gets opened up.

Don't want to hear anyone talking about Geelong and how they don't play kids. We have become far worse.

Mansell must be in to do a specific shutdown job on either Saad or Docherty.

My one concern with the team selection is we've brought in a few such as Graham, Short, Pickett who haven't played any practice matches and will likely be underdone.

Agreed, if we lose this will be all everyone talks about and if we win it will get swept under the rug
