We want a crowded house

We are sharing what success looks like from a crowd perspective for the Club on the eve of the 2023 home and away season.

By Richmond Media
15 March 2023

The Tiger Army loves a challenge so the Club thought it should share its home game crowd targets for season 2023.

“We set ourselves stretch targets for our home games each season,” CEO Brendon Gale said. “Why should they be kept in-house? We thought our supporters would like to know what success looks like from a crowd perspective.”

“Most importantly, big crowds lift our players. It can make a genuine difference in games. Secondly, big crowds keep our Club financially strong and that enables us to keep investing in our football programs. It’s cyclical in many ways.”

“Our message to fans is that every time you turn up to watch the Tigers you are making us stronger on and off the field. If our members and fans can help us hit the targets below it would be an outstanding result.”

Those targets look conservative if we are in the finals race.

Richmond’s overall attendance number after three rounds of the 2023 season is the all-time highest in the Club’s history for the corresponding period of games.

The Tigers have attracted a total of 211,817 to their three games so far this season – 88,084 v Carlton in Round 1 at the MCG, 38,492 v Adelaide in Round 2 at the Adelaide Oval and 85,241 v Collingwood in Round 3 at the MCG.

Their previous best attendance figure after three rounds of a season was 210,595 in 2018 following the drought-breaking 2017 premiership.

Huge thanks to our @Richmond_FC members – in particular our reserved seat/bay members for a 70% attendance rate resulting in our 2nd highest R1 Crowd ever. You make us stronger on & off field! Let’s do it again Saturday when we aim for a R4 crowd of 54,500 against the Dogs.

Well, the Tiger Army did their bit turning up today.

If only the team turned up for most of the match as well :P.

Hawks supporters prove once again they are the most fickle.

I wouldn’t be surprised if half of them have gone back to the team they originally barracked for.

Richmond 2023 Crowd Targets

Round 7 v Gold Coast   25,000
Interesting to see what crowd we get this week with it being Gold Coast, a "home" game at Docklands  ::), and us having our poorest year onfield since 2016.

I hate the Docklands stadium. Soulless place with tasteless and disgusting overpriced food and a claustrophobic atmosphere. I can’t stand the place. It’s bad enough I have to attend away games at that junkyard heartless place but it’s an absolute disgrace we still have to play home games there.

I refuse to attend home games there as a protest.

Interesting
I actually don’t mind the place and truly think the food options are better there
