Bombers looked the better team after half time I'm sad to say.

Time to put Rioli up forward again I think.

I've wanted Rioli up forward for a while and put Short back in this role.

I thought it was sort of ironic that a small defender in Mansell missed a shot at goal to win the game and Rioli a natural forward missed a basic spoil that cost us the winning goal. Swap them around and I'd back Rioli to kick that goal and Mansell to spoil that.

Maybe the most glaring stat:

Marks for our forwards:

Jack 3
Mansell 2
Pickett 2

Yet Anthony Tippanwutti who looks like he has eaten 3 small animals had 3 marks. All uncontested. How on earth can Tippa have outmarked all of our 3 forwards. That comparison speaks volumes.

Our system was thrashed. Our ball movement is not good enough. Our forwardline is dysfunctional and not creating enough goal chances. Our effort tonight and willingness to run to space was not good enough.

Dimma Presser

If he mentions 'Oh look they are a pretty good side" I will throw up.

They are a crap side with 3 of their best 4 midfielders out and the 1 who was left had about 45 touches. Out coached Dimma and if the last 2 seasons hasn't shown that our system is now not top 4 let along premiership winning, then tonight did. A bunch of absolute dribblers lead by Merret who killed us and some discipline defenders in Ridley and McGrath (thought Redman was crap). We should not be getting beaten by this mob. Beat them by 70 points last year. And had no Parish or Shiel from last year, sure no Lynch but thats it. Lynch wouldn't have made any difference for how Essendon played the way they wanted to and won them the game.

Not happy not sad not even angry. Just don't care anymore. Have not watched the game and probably won't.  unlike most here thought the result that happened was a good chance of happeneing. Its just where we are at and im sick of people kidding themselves.

To be honest ive lost interest to a big degree. 2017 WAS THE LONG WAIT. 2019 AND 2020 was the bonus
and i there is no longer that need to see success having waited so long.Truth is the game itself has gone to the dogs and is hardly worth watching any more.
If honest id rather watch the inside version of net ball with the girls than the outside one with the !!!.

Grimes on the bench was a good call.

He was shocking tonight

He was but when the game is on the line you have your best defense on. And our so called captain. And leader of defense.

Yes and the leader took himself off.

Think that about sums it up
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

Yes, Jacks kick off the ground late was an awful decision by a senior player.

Said it earlier without naming him

But not a doubt in my mind it cost us the game

Why are you still here if you don’t care?…

Bizarre.

Go do something you care about, surely?

What a contrast to last week our skills and kicking back to amature level and the brain fades . Our senior players killed us tonight no composure whatsoever be nice if Dimma mentions it like he does with our youngsters. Yeah we don't tag never learn from that lions final game and shut down a player killing us.Need to say thankyou very much to a few senior players season end past there use by date.Miller change for Nank was a coach killer to.

Really wish the AFL included missed tackles & broken/ineffective tackles in the official stats. That's where all this crap starts and simply rectifying that is when you begin to fix things. :shh

I’ve got to say that I reckon this has been the most impressive and professional dreamtime prematch I’ve been too.

It looks like they have really made an effort to use more professional talent and celebrate in a much more thoughtful and creative professional manner.

I really enjoyed the whole experience
Interesting comment. "Professionalism" is a function of culture -- our culture. Westerners might describe themselves as professionals, but I wonder if such a concept even exists in indigenous cultures. I highly doubt it matters to them for their rituals to be performed "professionally". Sincerely? Yes. Spirited? Yes. But professionally? No.

What I meant to articulate was that I thought the whole entire prematch was in my opinion the best I’ve seen at a dreamtime game.

By the professionalism I mean they actually looked definitely a choreographed performance from start to finish.
In previous games I’ve often wondered if some involved actually knew what they were doing.

This game was the first time I’ve seen that it was a well arranged and choreographed with the lighting, music and all performances from start to finish.

Welcome back  :cheers

Agree. I don’t think we are good enough at tackling. Attempts and missed tackles are the norm for us now. It’s a big problem we need to address.

Another excellent choke job to add to the ever growing list since 2020 flag.

Since the start of the 2022 season, our record in games decided by under a goal, 0 wins, 2 draws, 7 losses…..
