Dimma in his post match presser didn’t appear overly enthusiastic re cumberland

Yeah just listened to it

Think there will be minimal changes, which is what I expect but his presser basically confirmed it

I would look to Banks and Sonsie. Maybe Biggie in the Ryan role as he is tired.

Thinking about it some more I look at somehow bringing in Bauer to cover Grimes, who clearly out of sorts and struggling

Last week against Geelong our mids kicked multiple goals, last night they didn't

Our F50 and F50 entries are a shambles. So that's why we need another marking/leading option other than Jack

Bauer can play back or forward so I reckon it's worth considering... we need to do something different

Don't mind it, either him or Biggie as they can hit the marking contest to create ground ball. Last night, Ryan was pushed out every contest- then the slow chip kick commenced :sleep

Torch that is crazy talk. Better to persevere with something that doesn’t work.

They could even give Bradtke a run. ?? Trying something is better than nothing

If Jack is hurt (and Prestia) give them a rest until after the bye

RICHMOND interim coach Andrew McQualter could be without star defender Nick Vlastuin for his first game in charge against Port Adelaide.

The Tigers said Vlastuin would face a fitness test later this week after receiving a heavy knock to his leg against Essendon.

Vlastuin will need to get through training this week in order to be available for selection.

If not fit, Vlastuin could be replaced by Tylar Young.

In the Mix: Round 11

The Tigers will be sweating on the fitness of intercept defender Nick Vlastuin, who suffered a corked leg against Essendon.

Tylar Young would be in the frame to replace Vlastuin if needed.

Noah Cumberland has now kicked seven goals from his past two VFL matches, while Ben Miller performed strongly after his omission, if one of a very sore Jack Riewoldt or the young Samson Ryan needs a break.

Tyler Sonsie racked up 28 touches despite spending significant time in defence and Sam Banks (19 and a goal) continues to push for a debut.

I would like to see more of Nyuon in the ruck role. He can leap over a building in a single bound.

Just play him there and he can rest forward when Nank is in there. I wouldn’t drop Ryan just yet.

Bring in Cumberland and tell him when he doesn't have the footy, he needs to try to beat Mansell for work rate.

Try Banks on a wing

Let’s see what happens.
The club that keeps giving.

This is how I would like to see the team line up this week (on ground)

B:     Vlastuin       -            Balta         -       Grimes
HB:   Short          -            Broad        -        Baker
C:     Graham       -            Ross         -        Prestia
HF:   D Rioli         -            Miller        -        Martin
F:     Cumberland -          Reiwoldt      -        Bradtke
R:     Nankervis  -            Taranto         -      Bolton
Int:   Sonsie       -            Banks           -      Nyoun     -     Cotchin
Sub:  Ralphsmith
Out   Pickett, McIntosh, Clarke, Mansell, Ryan, Dow
In     Miller, Cumberland, Bradtke, Sonsie, Banks, Nyoun
Think Biggy gives greater versatility than Ryan around the ground.  Dow a bit stiff after one game.
Rioli back in the forward line for me.
Bradtke & Miller in to give us some more targets to kick it to.

Banks is the natural option to replace Vlastuin as he would be his replacement in a couple of years.
Young can come in and play CHB allowing Broad to go back to his usual role as third (fourth) tall.
Ross (and Graham) should go into the guts while Prestia - who was obviously by far the slowest player on the paddock last week - can take a break.
Picket must go back to wing as he seemed totally lost forward. If Ralphsmith is played it should be on a wing for the future.
Will be interesting to see whether they pick Cumberland since he lost Dimma but kicked four last week.
Using Biggie is not necessary just yet. Let him wait for a week or two to see if Ryan drops off as the FF/ruck.
If Grimes is that sore maybe Biggy can take his job as BP although using both Young and Biggy may be a risk too far.

In the same way that Dimma's retirment has given us the prime chance to strongly check senior coaches, we need to look at the team for the next couple of years and see who can pass the test as a senior player.

If Cotchin, Riewoldt, Tarrant and maybe Prestia, Broad and McIntosh go this year and Grimes, Martin, Picket, Vlastuin next year then we need to look at the kids and that's Bradtke, Young, Banks, Clarke, Mansell, Ralphsmith, Dow, Sonsie, Brown and Gibcus asap.
A decision on Ross and Graham as mids needs to be made or replacements found for Cotchin, Prestia and Dusty.

Cotchin - Ross          Riewoldt - Bradtke          Tarrant - Young          Prestia - Sonsie          Broad - Brown          McIntosh - Ralphsmith
Grimes - Gibcus          Martin - Graham          Picket - Dow          Vlastuin -Banks
That's a lot if IFs with nothing underneath except Clarke and Mansell who are dicing with Cumberland and MRJ for the HFF right now.
Calls for a totally different approach from McQualter and the other coaches with no guarantees from an incoming senior coach.
