Brisbane v Richmond previewAndrew Slevison

29 June 2023One of the games of the round kicks us off on Thursday night.
Brisbane are 6-0 at the Gabba so far this season and enter this clash with Richmond on the back of two straight wins.
The Tigers have the unenviable task of meeting the Lions at their fortress off the bye. Teams in that situation who are playing a team who did not have the bye the week prior are 0-8 in 2023, which doesn’t bode well for Andrew McQualter’s side.
But they have won three straight games and now have a sniff of finals.
The Tigers owe the Lions after their heartbreaking two-point loss in the Elimination Final last year. This will be the first meeting between the sides since.
Brisbane co-captains Harris Andrews and Lachie Neale are in top form, while Josh Dunkley, Eric Hipwood, Joe Daniher and Zac Bailey are all in decent nick which provides a major test for the Tigers.
The visitors will be led by Tim Taranto in the middle, while old stagers Trent Cotchin and Dustin Martin have hit form in recent weeks.
Richmond travels to Brisbane in season-best form but their momentum has been curtailed by the bye and the Lions are very hard to beat at home.
For that reason, Chris Fagan’s Brisbane gets the nod in what should be a fairly tight encounter.
Tip: Brisbane by 12 points.
