I can't believe it, Ablett and Headland are both disputing their charges. Ablett I can understand...But Headland??? As you said MT, They are the Dockers...

As WP said they are Freo and D-Headland is living up to his name tiga  :shh ;). What's Headland going to argue. "I didn't mean to attempt to strike Kayne. I actually wanted to knock his head into the upper tier of the grandstand"  ???

Headland is claiming at the tribunal he wasn't trying to hit Pettifer at all as he's got a injured hand and can't clench his fist properly ::).

hmm - saw both for the first time tonight on the news - correct decision on Headland and Pettifer imho.

Ask yourself - why would Headland try to king hit anybody in that position for no reason? He was clearly trying to break Pettifer's grip on his jumper. Pettifer hit a bloke in the head and got the right decision also.

Move on guys -

From the AFL site:

... the Dockers argued via video link that no attempt was made to strike the head of Pettifer and that Headland had been aiming to break the arm-lock the Tiger had on him when he swung his arm.

Alternative footage showed that Pettifer had a firm grip on Headland's jumper after the ball had been rushed through the goals, and player advocate John Prior argued Headland was desperate to break Pettifer's grip as the ball was about to be kicked back into play.

There was also argument that Headland had been playing with a guard to protect the break at the bottom of his thumb and had been told by club doctors to avoid heavy contact to his left hand.

Headland said he swung his arm "to break Pettifer's hold" and that he performed the motion with an open hand.

The jury of David Pittman, Stewart Loewe and Emmett Dunn took approximately 10 minutes to deliberate before delivering the verdict that leaves Headland free to play this week against the Western Bulldogs.

it was an attempted strike to the head, no doubt about, acceopt tyhat the tribunal again got it wrong, then move on!

of course petts was holding his jumper, what else could he do whilst getting rammed and slammed as he did.
the charge was attempting to strike, and thats what he did, and they got the result wrong.
accept that they got the wrong result and then move on!

Agree X. They replayed the incident last night on the late news and he clearly took a swing at Kayne's head and not a Petts arms to break the hold.

One of the commentators after the game joked with Headland about being into boxing.

Just store this farce in the memory bank and wait till Freo have to play us at the 'G. Then give Headland and co. hell and in unison yell out BALL, TOO HIGH and DELIBERATE at every opportunity and boo loudly when no free is paid even if there's not one there lol ;).

The problem with the Headland case was the wording of the charge "attempting to strike the head".

If the charge was "attempting to strike" then he wouldn't have gotten off they reckon.

Stupid yes but what can you do AA's new triburnal system is just that -  stupid

That exactly right WP.

I cant believe how ridiculous the whole tribunal system has become.

Its really a case of expect the unexpected when a player gets reported now.

And yes Des Headland and co we will remember you when you get anywhere near the Punt rd end at the g in the future.
