McKenzie will miss with an ankle  :(, but Sarah Hosking will be back this week.

Richmond AFLW Injury List:

Test

Sarah Hosking, hamstring

Unavailable

Meagan Kiely, back (two weeks)

Charley Ryan, foot (three weeks)

Ellie McKenzie, ankle (TBC)

--------------------------------

Ellie McKenzie, ankle

"In the last two minutes of the game on Sunday, Ellie obtained a contact ankle injury. We're still waiting to see how it settles. She's currently getting a little bit of pain still through the ankle, we're hoping that it settles in the next couple of days. She'll be unavailable for this weekend, but we're hoping we'll be able to see her return to play pretty quickly."

Sarah Hosking, hamstring

"Sarah's looking great for this week. She had hamstring tendinopathy, an acute injury during training late in pre-season. It was unfortunate to miss that first round, but we know that she's hit all the loads that she needs to in the game. So, she's looking really good to be available for this weekend."

Meagan Kiely, back

"She had a reoccurrence of a back injury that she's had in previous seasons. We tried an aggressive approach to get her back pretty quickly, and it didn't settle as well as well as we hoped it would. So, we've just gone for more of a conservative approach at the moment. She's tracking really well in her rehab and responding great to the loads and extra variables that we're putting in. We're hoping she can play some scrimmage minutes this weekend, to then be available in the coming weeks."

Charley Ryan, foot

"Charley's returning from bone stress in her foot. In terms of the bone stress, it's (going) really good, but the complication is that she was also returning from an ACL injury. So, in the background, we're just making sure that she's strong enough in those areas responding from her ACL injury, but she's back into full training now and has had some exposure to match sim. We're still looking at a Round 4 or 5 return for Charley which is great."

Full R2 preview

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8
Richmond v Adelaide at Ikon Park, 5.05pm AEST

Richmond and Adelaide have only faced off once before, in round two last season. The Tigers took an unexpected lead into three-quarter time before the ultimate professionals that are the Crows put the foot down to win by nine points. This year, however, is a different prospect. Richmond has confidence after reaching its first ever finals series and backed it up with a win over Brisbane last week, while Adelaide had a chance to test some changes in round one's Showdown.

The Tigers found more outside ball last week than they averaged last season, playing their own game rather than focusing heavily on taking away their opponents' strengths. Richmond laid just 48 tackles – the fewest of any side across the weekend – and 51.1 per cent of its possession was uncontested, using the speed and space of Springfield to its advantage. Adelaide also showed off a slight shift in game style compared to last year. Still a high-possession team, it is trying to use the ball by hand a little more and make better use of its outside runners. As a result, this game should be quick with plenty of run and carry.

Tip: There is no harder game to tip this weekend. Richmond by one point.

Good forward pressure forces a couple of F50 stoppages. Kelly wins the HTB free in the ruck 25m out. Rain bucketing down. Goal!  :gotigers

Rich  2.0-12
Adel  1.1-7

Quarter time

Richmond   2.0-12
Adelaide     1.1-7

Goals: Conti, Kelly.

The rain is affecting the game far more than any breeze. Highly contested footy given the slippery conditions.

That was clueless defending. Allowed the easy centre clearance and then let the ball bounce over and through our entire backline :facepalm.

Richmond   2.0     2.0-12
Adelaide     1.1     3.1-19

Goals: Conti, Kelly.

A mixture of the rain stopping and the breeze favouring the Crows that quarter plus dumb play by us. Have modern footballers forgotten what being front and square is?  :P
