« on: September 12, 2023, 06:32:09 AM »
Next up is Ralphsmith.

Hugo in his fourth year (third since debuting) played in 13 out of a possible 23 games to take his career tally to 32. If there is a song to describe Hugo's 2023 it would be The Who's "Substitute" as he was named the sub five times in those 13 appearances.

Season Highlights
* 19 disposals (10 kicks, 9 hballs), 6 marks, 4 tackles & a goal in the R4 4pt-loss to the Bulldogs at the MCG (Apr 8)
* 18 disposals (12 kicks, 6 hballs) and 6 marks in the R5 44pt-loss to Sydney at Adelaide Oval (Apr 14)
* 17 disposals (7 kicks, 10 hballs) and 6 marks in the R12 6pt-win over GWS at Giants Stadium (Jun 4)
* 17 disposals (6 kicks, 11 hballs) and 3 marks in the R11 10pt-loss to Port Adelaide at the MCG (Jun 4)

Career stats:
Games  Kicks   Hballs  Disposals  Marks  Tackles    G.B    Clear.   In50      Re50     GA
2021:      6*     4.5      3.7         8.2        1.2       0.8       3.2      0.0      1.6        0.8      0.0

Gave him a 2

Didn't improve and I'm not sure he went backwards either.

Low starting base TBBH so it's hard to gauge if he regressed or not

Incredibly frustrating player to watch. Reckon he could be an excellent kick as it is his sole strength but he fails to use it to his advantage. I would think his run and disposal would set up to be that running wingman but he was unable to nail a spot on the wing

Think we've all seen his lack on attack at contests. Think his tackle number speaks volumes of his contest work

Will be interesting to see if he gets another contract

I'd give him less than zero if it was a score.  Nothing worse than a soft, outside flanker.

Fartley and co should have traded him last year when he had some currency.

He’s worse than this summary

Never disliked a player more ..

What does he do well apart from run fast in bursts ???

His haircut matches his football .. ugly and somewhat feminine

Not sure being nice gets bonus points ?

This isn’t the under 8’s participation award

If we get anything better than a 4th round pick for him then I'll rate his season 10/10 just for that. :shh

I gave him a 1 because he was marginally better than the 0 I gave MRJ.

If this is the future we are F'd for a decade.

I would trade or delist him.

100% not the under 8’s

If under 8’s he would have got game time no matter his ability, yet RFC selected him……?

Not after Round 12 they didn't .. selected as a sub a few times, but they even gave up on that the last handful of games

Was given a chance early in the year to establish himself in the side, wasn't good enough ..

End of story really

Side note
Two utter clowns (I’d prefer to use far more appropriate words, but PC Australia tells me that’s naughty) gave him 10

LMAO

Whoever did that should stick to Netball

Clueless , and that’s being polite

Reckon someone is trying to get a reaction with that rating….
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
