Which young Tiger will have a breakout season in 2024?
« on: October 06, 2023, 09:47:09 AM »
Borrowed this from twitter.

---------------

With a new coach the slate is clean & opportunities for our u23s should open up without fear or favour. It's an exciting time ahead.

Pick a young player to have a breakout season in 2024?

Banks
Bauer
Brown
Clarke
Maurice Rioli
Ryan
Trezise
Other

Went with Banks. Just think he has the ability

Could have gone Brown but haven't seen enough of him yet

Hopefully both have breakout seasons and have long successful careers at Richmond

I'd like them all to have a big year, but I think Banks is the most likely.  His later half of '23 was pretty good, at times even pushing up to excellent.  I'd like to see him playing wing rather than hbf.

Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!  Loud, proud & dangerous!

Does Jack Graham qualify for this poll.
Asking for a friend  :shh
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Sonsie - has hopefully been given a big kick up the backside after his dog act.

I was impressed with his first season - has the skills - just needs his brain to align.

Please let it be sonsie. With cotchin retired we are desperate for class in the midfield. Sonsie has the talent just hope he can put it together

Not holding my breath on this one. After all we are still waiting on break out seasons for half the list who are no longer kids.

The only 2 with great certainty is banks and Ryan for me. I have a good feeling about those 2.

Brown i hope will come on. Bloody hell we haven't got much else after that. Our midfield and forward are poor and slow.

Ready for take-off: Your club's breakout star for 2024

Josh Gibcus
Last year was the end of an era at Punt Road. Damien Hardwick departed, months before Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt retired. And while much is hoped of Jacob Hopper in his second season, after Tim Taranto excelled in 2023, the return and progress of Gibcus will be a big story at Tigerland in the months ahead. The 2021 No.9 pick played 18 games in an eye-catching debut season in 2022 but missed all of last year due to a complex hamstring injury. Now fully recovered, the 20-year-old will be looking to relaunch his career under new coach Adem Yze. It might take time for the Victorian to build his game after so long out, but if he can bank 15-18 games this year, it will be a big win for Richmond.

Samson Ryan showed signs of progress last year, dividing his time between the ruck and inside 50. Can the 206cm Queenslander rise again?

Kaelan Smith and Kane McAuliffe. Looks like Sonsie has put on some size so may not be so timid and realise he can go hard.

All three  look physically right to go and all three have great attributes for the roles they play.

Smiths injury means he has been totally under the radar. If the foot is good  he has pace to burn runs lines and will go hard at the ball and unlike so many who get games has shown he is a good user of the ball.
